Visnovsky considers staying in Bratislava, possibly not joining the Islanders

So while Andrej Sekera played his last game for Slovan Bratislava (newcomer to the KHL), Visnovsky says -

"I got an offer to stay in Slovan until the end of the season. I am considering it and I don't know how to answer. I have to talk it through with my agent and with my overseas employer. I am really thinking about it. I also have to find out whether it's possible. Don't want to do anything behind the Islanders' back. We'll talk and we'll see how it goes."

I am sorry if it's already been posted.

In other Slovak news, Richard Zednik, formerly of the Washing Capitals, Montreal Canadiens, New York Islanders and Florida Panthers quietly announced his retirement.

Apparently he may need the Isles permission which they won't do.

On the Isles board a poster translated it as:

This guy is a real pain in the buns with his comments. Has he had a history of inserting his foot in his mouth before the whole saga revolving around his trade to the Isles?

In the end, he is under contract and is expected to report. Even if he truly in his heart wants to stay there, tough noogies. Snow would NEVER allow that and he doesn't act too kindly to being jilted in any way.

That's my translation. It's in the OP.

Posted it both here and there.

Yeah I think the Isles already set precedence here with Nabokov a year ago. Whether it's this year or next Visnosvky owes the isles a season if he wants to play in the NHL again.

I would take a guess that he'll show up, play well for the Isles, and all will be forgiven.

The thing is, I don't necessarily think that's the case. From the interviews I get the feeling he would much rather play at home in Slovakia.

With that said, this is still how it's most likely going to go -

Lubo: "I'd like to stay at home and play here in Slovakia, would that be possible?"
Snow: "No. Report to camp."

I wonder if the Islanders will still have these kinds of problems after they move to Brooklyn.

What about the other players who were threatening to stay overseas? Have we heard anything from them yet?

Yeah, that's what I was going to say. Nabokov wanted to be back in the NHL because he didn't like the KHL. It isn't clear if that's LV's #1 priority and it is clear that there's no strife between him and his team in Slovakia.

Hopefully not, he's a great player and the Islanders would benefit exponentially from his participation.

Curious, if he doesn't return, does his cap hit still affect the team? If so, and Dipietro is on LTIR... wouldn't they be under the floor?

Couldn't he just retire from the NHL like Markus Naslund?

DiPi will not be LTIR, he will play a game and be on the roster the whole year. I hope Visnovky's cap hit will not count too. Same old crap on the Island. I would expect his contract to be tolled.

From what's been said, it's very little to do with the fact it's the Islanders, more of a fact that at his age he feels settled and wants to stay in Bratislava.

You could see how emotionally moved he was at the end of the Magnitogorsk game, and in the post-game interviews.

Guys c'mon you can't see through this crap? A few months ago he was trying to legally challenge his trade there and you think it has nothing to do with the Islanders? Of course it does.
