Rumors that Iginla may be traded to the Bruins for Khokhlachev + Bartkowski + 1st (can't find the link but its somewhere in the Trade Forum's Iginla thread - maybe Bob Mackenzie?). Iggy was a healthy scratch tonight for the Flames.
People are saying its a steal for Boston in the Trade Forum but it seems pretty fair to me.
Would Holland do this if he were in Chiarelli's shoes? Or would the price be too high?
From a GM, "Detroit is the best team we've played this year. It's not even close. Their puck control is incredible...You have to hope your goalie has a great night to give you a chance."
I would really hope so. An equivalent package from Detroit would be something like Sheahan/Jensen/1st.
Detroit was supposedly on Iginla's trade list early on, but a few days later we just disappeared from any speculation. Did he take us off the list or were we never on it?
I doubt we're an Iginla away from a Cup anyways, so it's best to hang onto our assets.
I'm not even sure if Detroit was on Iginla's list and I totally understand Holland not having any interest even if they were -- one player won't put them over the top and Iginla is too old to build around at this point.
But say this were a year or two ago. Lidstrom's still around and they've needed a scoring winger like Iginla for a while now. Does Holland pull the trigger on a deal like this? I'm not sure. He's seemed so gun-shy for the past few years.
