I am always optimistic before the season starts. Then reality sets in and I realize how bad the Islanders are. Here is a positive scenario. The Isles go .500 against the Atlantic and 4 games over against the rest of the league. One of the other Atlantic teams has an off season due to injuries or some anomaly. Nabokov plays great and a second line emerges. The Islanders sneak into the 8th spot. Or they could easily be a lottery team again. I just want to cover all options.

If it's a packed schedule with a lot of back to back games, well a lack of depth and a no 1A goalie will hurt.

Somewhere between 10th and 13th in the Conference.

A little good luck could have them in 8th, a little bad luck right at the bottom.

with this type of management.
with the poor decisions made.
with the useless players brought in

this team would be lucky to win 10 games.

PA is was not even considered for resigning. JT's and Moulson's production will plummet like the '29 stock market crash.

Niether Boyes nor Okposo have the wheels to keep up with Nielsen and Grabner. This kills the potential 'speed line' (now if they had someone like Hansen ........)

like what I've seen from McDonlad and Aucoin so far but let's face it. The're not going to score 20 goals and 50 points in any season let alone this one

Half the blueline is completely useless.

The net needs a total overhaul.

IMO- they'll lose 3 games for every one they win (on average)

I can't believe how far off I was!

In all honesty I thought we'd finish with 52 points, not knowing if we'd get a playoff spot.

Top 3 pick guaranteed, unless a trade to bolster the blue line occurs soon.

Welcome, Seth Jones. Welcome.
Well, so much for that. I believe at the time Vis reporting was an issue, and we didn't have Strait or Hickey. That depth saved much of the season with Vis being huge.

I am glad to be off so far. I hope the club finishes it out.

if anyone predicted before the year that the nielsen line would be our best line, hickey would be one of our best defensemen, vis would report, play well, and re-sign, and that we'd be fighting for the 6 seed, they would have been ridiculed and laughed off this forum. couldn't be happier that we were all wrong.

So far, I'm glad to say that my prediction was close but thankfully they are doing better then I expected.
