Like many of the most promising match ups this past two weeks, this match will starts 3:30 AM in Ontario Glad this is the last one for a year.

Barring an unforeseen let down by Nole, Andy will have to be better than we've seen him so far to stay in the match against Djokovic. While Murray is certainly capable of raising his game, he will be up against the best player in the world in peak form. It wouldn't be an upset for the ages by any means, but I'd be more than a little surprised if Andy beat him.

Murray's come a long way from that. See AO 2012 semi-finals.

True. If Novak plays like he can, I'd be surprised if he lost. Murray will, however, give it his all. Let's see if his best is enough tonight/tomorrow.

Novak was playing much more poorly last year though. He struggled against Hewitt, he struggled against Ferrer, he struggled against Murray, and he struggled against Nadal. Here he only lapsed at all against Wawrinka, who played just about as well or better than any of those guys last year.

There's no sign of physical problems now, and he has been in great form.

Quick hold for Novak to start the match.

Though on serve at 3-2, the match seems like the last couple of meetings between the two where Andy is the sharper player initially (Murray took the first set at each of those tournaments, but Nole won both matches)....by 4-3, it's pretty even, though, with Nole getting the break opportunities, not yet Andy...Nole starts the tie breaker inauspiciously with a double fault...and it's an easy breaker for Andy 7-2. Nole not in the zone today.

Murray didn't drop a point on his first 2 service games, and has given up break points on each of the following 2. Djokovic has looked reasonably comfortable on his serve, but Murray isn't taking advantage of the half chances he is creating on the Djokovic serve.

5-5.

Ugh, I should have went to bed earlier.

Started watching at 4-4 and Djokovic is looking stronger for me.

That said, very poor tiebreak from Djokovic

Murray played a solid tiebreak, and Djokovic... Well, the norm.

Nole with 25 unforced errors didn't help his cause. For that matter Andy has room for improvement on that set, too.

No breaks again, and another tie breaker....Nole played that breaker way better than the first one and evens the match at a set apiece. Novak started out slow that set but Andy couldn't take advantage of the opportunities presented. After that, Djokovic's play steadily improved. Much better tennis that set, especially the second half. The worm may have turned.

Wonder what kind of odds I could have gotten pre-match on no breaks through two sets.

Through seven games, the third set has been simultaneously both decently played and rather listless. The match seems becalmed at the moment....Nole wins a 36 stroke point that just might wake things up....and it indeed leads almost immediately to a break for 5-3 and Nole serves for the set....and holds at love for the set.

First break of the match puts Novak up 5-3 in the third. Can't see Murray coming back if he can serve this set out.

Those numbers at the net are ridiculous for Djokovic.

Nole breaks for 2-1, and now seemingly in full control of the match. He is winning all the big points right now and dominating the long rallies...and Andy looking like more of a spent force than he should concedes another break with a double fault. It's just a formality from here on out....and it is 6-2 and he's the champ.

I wonder just how bad Murray's hamstring is, but Djokovic is clearly the better player out there now. Murray has been far too passive, even now when his movement is impaired he still pretty passive.

That said, had he taken one of the break points at the start of the second, I couldn't be critical of his tactics...

Not passive at all in comparison to the Murray of old though.

He really should get Adidas to design new shorts. He has had way too many problems with balls flying out of his pockets the past year.

Murray's foot earlier:

How many times is that now that Murray took an extra long pause before serving at a key moment and he lost it? Three by my count.

Easy win for Novak. Not much drama like last year's finals. Oh well. Joker is the reigning king now and only maybe Nadal can consistently challenge him if he can stay healthy.
