TSN2 is showing every televised Raonic match but tonight will substitute his match with Levine/Simon. What a downgrade!

Berankis badly outplaying Mayer right now. 6-2 first set. Commentators said Berankis was the oddsmakers' favorite. A bit surprising that, even if Mayer has been poor for quite a while now.

Well that match was a one-sided exercise in offensive baseline tennis. Berankis broke twice in each set in only an hour and 20 minutes on court. Looking forward to his likely meeting with Murray next round.

Apparently Baker will be out 4 months. It was a meniscus tear, not an ACL.

Brands played the best set by light years that I have ever seen him play and wins the first set tie breaker over Tomic who played fine tennis himself. Interesting to see how Tomic responds to playing such steady tennis and still losing. I love Bernard's service motion, totally no frills and maintenance free, a model of economy and with good disguise. But I don't think Brands lost a point on his first serve the entire set.

Milos beat Rosol 7-6, 6-2, 6-3. I'm looking at the match stats, do they not record winners/unforced errors outside of aces and double faults? He had 18 and 6 aces/double faults and the same number of winners/unforced errors.

Brands takes the opening set in a tiebreak. Not a lot of points against serve that set. A couple of poor decisions from both guys in the tiebreak. Tomic hasn't been able to do much at all with Brands' first serve.

That's good, what a bizarre, innocent looking play that came on.

Probably the best possible news after watching it last night.

When it's not on a televised court, no, they don't keep track of other winners/UEs.

Continued fine play from both players, but Tomic gets a well-earned break in the eleventh game and serves out the set. Not awe inspiring, but very neat, efficient tennis.

Third set is whizzing by, 9 games in 23 minutes...and Tomic takes the hard fought set in a tie breaker; neither player can do anything at all with the other's serve. Brands has had only one break point possibility the entire match, Tomic three.

Brand has the lateral mobility of an earth worm.

Like I said last week Tomic has definitely improved his game especially fitness and serve.

He played and won two five setters last year against much better players... not sure why you think this is a proof of his improved fitness.

Gilles Simon is in meltdown mode vs. Levine. He's freaking out on himself after every point, either with mutterings or full, angry conversations. Levine took the first set 6-2 and Simon just held a very long first game to start the second set.

Took him eight match points to do it, but Tomic wins the fourth set tie breaker and the match.

Good match from both players.Tomic was all business, the only hint of the "bad' Bernard is that if he goes down love-30 on the other guy's serve, he tends to concede the game. But other than that I was impressed. He kept his composure and never panicked.

He just looks much stronger and athletic.
Both Gilbert and Cahill mentioned this in his last 2 matchs.

Anyways you also said he has a "pathetic serve" for someone his size and he just finished this match throwing down 26 aces and with a 77% first serve %.

... with Brands returning.

That's obviously a great serve percentage though. He did a lot of things well this match and only had a short spell of playing really passively. Much better than his run here last year so far.

He does that on occasion. Not to fret, though, he usually pulls himself together.

I don't like him so I hope he continues but I see he just broke and is up 4-2.

I really like him, so I hope he stops mucking about.

Monfils/Lu just started. Late night for me.

Duckworth-Kavcic approaching five hours, and in this kind of weather too. Not a ton of cheap points either from what I've seen.

Finally Kavcic wins 10-8 in the fifth on his fifth match point.

Chardy dispatches Granollers 6-3, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2. Excellent result.

Monfils takes the first set tie breaker and looked very lathargic doing it. Lu is a very conservative player with no real weapons, but this could still be a struggle.

Monfils is playing a little better in the second set, but still looks like the match against Dolgopolov took a lot out of him.

Lu is a less conservative player than Monfils, weapons or not.

Seems I've seen so many matches where Levine started strong and eventually faded. Currently in a tiebreak in the third set. Simon still looks unfocused, but takes it 7-4 regardless.
