My only explanation for this call ups is: The management thinks Connolly and Killorn can still do a lot better in the AHL and maybe they don't see that much left in the tank for Johnson. Or they don't plan to play any of them and want to push those two a little more by leaving them in Cuse
Conacher, iirc, is on a one way this year too which makes the choice to leave Killorn, Connolly in Syracuse that much easier.
In his post-practice conference, Guy Boucher said all recalled from Syracuse will have an equal chance at making the club.
I'm not so sure about that. Seemed like from the article I posted on the previous page that some of them were only there to make a team for scrimmages.

True. But he can't go out and say "at least half of you will get sent down no matter what because it's really just between 4 or 5 guys to make the team".
I got the impression that Labrie is a strong candidate to make the team (not that he wasn't in the running already) based on Yzerman's comments after the practice. Then again he's not the coach, so we'll see what happens.
Edit: If I'm not mistaken, both Labrie and Conacher are on 1 way deals. Anyone think they both end up sticking?

BriseBois kinda said it already, and from the looks of the quotes, Barberio was told or knows what the plan is.

They are both 2 way because they are both on entry level contracts. I do think they both can make it. There's a spot in the top 6 that if Conacher makes really helps the depth of this team.
Labrie, Im not sure if he makes the team because I think Crombeen has kinda taken his role from him, although they have put emphasis on getting some bigger bodies, so maybe they want another and will keep him. Even if he doesn't make it I think he's near the top of the list when it comes to calling players up for injuries.

I didn't see much room for Labrie either, but Yzerman mentioned him specifically today when talking about the Lightning addressing their needs and getting bigger and tougher when it comes to the forward group. I got the impression that he wouldn't mind having Labrie with the team as well.
I don't feel Killorn ever had a chance, he only started playing with Norfolk late last year. Yzerman won't rush anyone.
Its different for Killorn. You have to remember hes from the college ranks. Hes older and has developed in that way more than as if he had just jumped into the AHL from juniors.
I think hes being groomed for a perfect fit third line center. I think he will be a great player in that role. I wouldnt be surprised to see him get a call up if there are injuries, if not then he will be a mainstay on the team starting next season no doubt in my mind.

If hes being groomed for a third line center role, we're wasting assets. Hes too good for that.

Well let me rephrase. I think right now he would be the perfect third line center. But youre right. Hes incredibly smart and has great size and solid speed. He has good hands and a good shot. The guy just knows how to play hockey properly and very rarely makes the wrong play.
I think we are both very high on Killorn. I wouldnt be surprised at all to see him step into the top six as a Malone type replacement. I actually expect him to.
I was more so talking about short term rather then ultimate upside, which, because of the smarts I mentioned, I think he will in fact hit.

I do too and I just think we're best served giving him AHL time and either calling him up later, or waiting until next year. Hes a stud.
“You have to take the opportunity you have been given,” Conacher told SportsTalkFlorida. “I have been given a great opportunity just to get this invite. I just have to take advantage of it. It’s great to be here. Obviously there are guys here that it is easy to play with. You have got to play with confidence here. Obviously, there is St. Louis and Lecavalier, guys I look up to growing up, and it’s just a pleasure to be here and I just have to take the opportunity, and take advantage of it and hopefully have a good week here.”

“Be yourself,” Conacher said. “Just be yourself, don’t let your nerves get the best of you. You just have to be confident, and be comfortable here, but not too comfortable. Do the things that got you to this point. For me it’s driving the net and skating well and making those plays and shooting the puck and just being that little honey badger that they call me, and being in the dirty areas and going to net. Hard work takes you a ways and it is going to be important for me to work hard and not take strides off, that’s what the coaching staff looks for."
MAB and Lee...hmm...they just signed him for two more years and he's effectively the odd man out. Of course, the staff is much higher on MAB then we are.
Mikkelson and Aulie is an interesting pairing. In a longer camp, I'd take it to mean they're competing against each other, but Aulie's inclusion on opening night seems all but certain and Mikkelson-Lee played well together last season, so I don't really know.
Oh well, no need to get all worked up. It could be different tomorrow.
Consistent D pairings: Carle-Brewer; Hedman-Salo; MAB-Lee; Mikkelson-Aulie #tblightning
Scrimmage over. Conacher, Stamkos, Gudas, Tyrell, and Wilson scored the goals and Tyrell got the winner. 3 goals on Garon and 2 goals scored on Lindback.
