Well, you've never seen Golikov's brothers in the Soviet Union national team
I am new here but, i persunally think the leafs should trade tucker and possibly a late pick for first overall. It duznet matter what the leafs trade for first overall because Crosby is gonna be Very Very good.

I think it woudl take more then just Tucker and a 1st rounder.. especially for Crosby.
Then would the first overall pick team accept Mccabe and 1st? He could help out younger d-men on that team. The leafs 1st pick could be top 20. I would trade also knowing that Mccabes contract expires.

If the Leafs had the 2nd overall pick then maybe there could be a deal done. But for Crosby, expect a Lindros type deal.
What are the possibilities for an entry draft?
We're not going to reach any determination on the draft (Tuesday). But clubs, I'm sure, will have some ideas. We generally recognize we're probably not going to stick to the draft order that was in play last year. There will have to be some kind of a lottery system.
Considering that we would have picked in the mid-20s, I'd say that it seems a lot likelier we move up than down in a lottery.

I read that it was going to be weighted, like last years top ten stay in top ten and last years 10-20 stay in the 10-20 and the 20-30 stay in the 20-30 range.
Marc Staal sounds like a pretty good pick for a first round pick. But I also wouldn't mind picking up some forwards with the ability to put the puck in the net. A guy like Devin Setoguchi sounds pretty good to me right now. It'd be nice to have the option of trading down, grabbing somebody we like and still get a second rounder out of it. Whether that involves moving a player we have right now, doesn't matter much to me as long as we get more picks at a good price. In the second round I like the idea of picking Daniel Ryder too. Although there are other guys that sound pretty good like Joe Barnes.
They haven't put anything into writing yet, but apparently a weighted lottery is what they're leaning to.
A weighted lottery (one that isn't AS weighted as normal drafts are) sounds reasonable. But a tiered system where teams are either stuck in the top 10, teens or twenties just sounds stupid and illogical.
In my opinion here is how the Leafs should draft by Priority but also taking in to consideration of the best available player. Here is how the Leafs should prioritise the draft.
1. Power Forward (Owen Nolan, Gary Roberts type players)
2. Goalie - best available goalie
3. Speedy skilled winger (Mogiliny type player)
4. Rugged stay at home defence men (Robyn Reghr type)
5. Rushing deffence men (Leetch type player)
6. Two way center (Mike Peca type player)
Brule, Johnson, Pouliot, Price might fit with Leafs.
Brule-Can really put the puck in the net
Pouliot-Scorer
Johnson-D-man with all skills
Price-Young goalie potetial NHL starter... just really bad WHL team
Why would we be targetting goalies if they are not the best player available come our turn to draft? This draft seems to suck in terms of goalie depth. Tuuka Rask might be the best goalie prospect out there and all he did prove at the WJC was how inconsistent he is.

Actually this draft is pretty good in the goaltending department.
Maybe I haven't been paying attention but aside from Alexander Vincent and Rask, there aren't all that many big name goalies like in years past.
Price in the WHL is a tremendous goalie.
There's also Rask, Vincent, Pavelec from the Czech Republic, Levasseur from the Q, and Frazee who's playing in the US program. Compared to last year, it's not very good... but it's still a good group of goalies.
