Has Bergevin mentioned anything about re-joining the prospect team tournaments Habs used to take part in? Perhaps it's selfish but I enjoyed seeing our prospects go up against the Leafs/Sens/Wings etc prospect teams.
Never heart anything of that sort. Like to think it's the Leafs fault and any other team present in there that turned this tournament into a goon fest...goons that we didn't have too much of. But never heard anything of that sort. That would be nice to see.
With Mccaron and Crisp, I suppose our prospects can play it any way the other teams want. Don't know about Mccarons fighting ability but with his reach it would be hard for almost anybody else to get a shot in.

I don't know if it's the "official stated reason" from the Habs but I've heard teams don't do it because a lot of young guys like to use it as their showcase for a big fight, big hit, etc - so you get a lot of running around and dangerous plays because they're trying to make an impression. Some teams don't think it's worth putting their prospects' health at risk for what's essentially a show for the fans.
If Collberg got his head knocked off by some seventh-string no-prospect goon on the Leafs, I imagine most of us wouldn't be too keen about the idea of joining the tourney after all.
