Barrie has looked very good in AHL. Better PP qb than anyone we had in the NHL last year.

Kind if glad Bordy made it to be honest...I'd just like to see what he can do in the NHL with limited minutes. And I think it makes our 4th line a very scary line to play against if Bordy does in fact dress.

McLeod - Olver - Bordy

However, I'm sure it will be Kobasew on the 4th line, and Bordy will be in the press box most nights.

As for the 8th defenseman, I really hope it's Barrie. I think Barrie and Elliott are close right now, but Elliott is just too much of a defense liability in our own zone right now. Plus, Barrie has outplayed Elliott in Cleveland so far this season.

EDIT - Ok then...there we have it lol

And Elliott has to go through waivers?! That's not good...

I'm so happy for/proud of Barrie.

What about Olver? If he didn't get mentioned then I assume he made the team.

I've never been a fan of this, I hated it when it happened to me when I played, and I hate seeing it out there on the ice. The D don't build chemistry, and neither do the forwards, it's a complete cluster fudge.

I'm kind of hoping it is:

Wilson-EJ
Hejda-O'Byrne
Zanon-Barrie

With SOB and Hunwick taking over for anyone that gets hurt.

While the team likely doesn't need a heavy, it is nice to know that we have one. Elliott didn't have to go through, I think only DVDG had to.

SOB can just be our new 3rd line center.

We would have to think of a new nickname for him.

I don't like the idea of PAP on the point, he'd be much more effective down low or on the half boards. Hopefully this means they will be running an Umbrella PP and keep PAP on the boards.

Pretty sure just VDG does. Twitter doesn't really allow for the right punctuation to portray that lol

I could see VDG being snatched up.

Nice to see Barrie sticking around. I wonder who is going to join Hunwick in the press box. O'Brien, Wilson, or Zanon? Or maybe they'll go with seven defensemen.

Elliott does not have to pass through waivers. Only VDG.

With their lack of a true (developed) PPQB running the umbrella may actually work, especially if they load up on playmakers on the side boards and just allow EJ to crank the puck.

I never played, and don't really know the systems or terminology real well, but I think that's kind of what they were doing. Like I said, it was often fluid, but often 1 staying more high while 1 cheating down at times, but other times two would stay high.

I would imagine with only one D-man on each unit is a good indication that they will run an umbrella, especially when you consider our forwards have strong playmaking ability. This also give our D for the PK some rest when we run the PP.

I don't know either but to me it looked like one person at the blue line and then one on each side half way down the boards. So they could get to the point if they needed but could also pinch.

If that is the case, then they are in fact running a traditional umbrella set up. I approve of this. Probably a big reason Barrie made the team.

I'm not certain what benefit Bordeleau will bring and I don't like having 8 defensemen, but we'll see how it goes.
