Been a few years since the Avs had a pure goon on the team.

Sad to see Olver not make the team, I thought he would have a good chance to make it especially with the uncertainty regarding ROR.

Barrie making it is great news, I thought he would get a chance but wasn't 100% certain. He has always impressed me more than lolelliott. I like the D pairings SWIC posted.

This forward on the point nonsense needs to stop. The avs don't have a single forward that can shoot a hard slapper. Let EJ or Barrie on the full 2 mins paired up with one of Hejda or Zannon.

I imagine they feel that since it will be all inter-conference games and a shortened season we could use the muscle.

I'm confused, seems some people are saying that Olver is up, others are saying Olver down....

I think it's from a mistweet by MHH saying he had been sent down, they corrected the tweet however thanks to SAM posting it here, and then editing her post after saying it was wrong (which people probably glazed over the edit) people think he was indeed sent down.

as usual, Olver is all over the place. Next thing you know he will be in the back of the net.

Sounds like it might not be 8 Dmen at this point. Wilson wasn't at camp today...

Not saying its a possible trade, I think he might be injured. Regardless I think we can all but gurantee that if Barrie plays well in the first couple of weeks, we'll see a Dman shipped out before the trade deadling, and possibly even 2.

This is how I see our line being rolled to start the year now(assuming no Oreilly or Trade):

McGinn - Stas - Jones
Landy - Duchene - Pap
Duke - Malkin - Downie
McCleod - Olver -
Wilson - EJ
Barrie - Hejda
Hunwick - Obyrne
Zanon

Obrien, Kobasew, and Bords on the bench.

By the sounds of it Hunwick has really played well in camp and IMO he should get a chance to play. Barrie wont be kept up to sit in the press box, and I think we'll see 7 Dmen with Hunny and Zanon splitting the #6 ice time, Zanon playing the PK and Hunny the PP.

If Oreilly comes back obviously he'll be slotted in, I think Bords will be sent down again and McCleod also sits.

So I'm going to assume for forwards:

McGinn-Stastny-Jones
Landeskog-Duchene-Parenteau
Downie/Hejduk-Mitchell-Downie/Hejduk
McLeod/Bordeleau-Olver-Kobasew/Bordeleau

I think they keep Hejda-O'Byrne together as the go to shutdown pair. I think they'll play Zanon with Barrie, give the kid a safety blanket to start off.

They'll definitely put him with a safety blanket. IMO any of Obyrne, Zanon, or Hejda would be solid Dmen to pair him with. Im gonna say Hejda cause he's the faster skater of the 3 and can keep up with Barrie a little more cause whenever Barrie is on the pace for that shift will likely be faster.

I really hope Hunwick gets some ice time to start the season, and Zanon.

Okay, so Olvy did make the team? GREAT!

Landeskog-Duchty-PAP
Jones-Stastny-Mcginn
Hejduk-Olvy-Downie

Wilson-EJ
Hejda-ROB
Zannon-Kripke

PP 1

Landy-Duchty-Pap

EJ-Barrie

PP2

Jones-Stastny-Mcginn

EJ/Barrie with Zannon/Hejda

Our top 9 isn't bad, it's actually quite good if the right players play upto their potential but I'm not expecting that. The backline really lacks mobility and any creativity, Barrie should help that but EJ must be better in that aspect, our transition game was a joke last year and our offense suffered because of it.

You missed the part about Mitchell getting the 3C spot. and your PP units are out of wack.

Why not, from the reports we've heard at Camp, Hunwick has been might impressive, he deserves a shot at this point. They're not gonna bring Barrie up just for him to sit up in the box every game.

Those pairings each match an offensive Dman with a Defensive one, that way we have some offense with each paring, and a decent first pass.

Olver is certainly up, because without him or a trade we have only 12 forwards, and I'm pretty sure the plan is not for Bordeleau to be the full time 12th forward.

If ROR is signed, I'd suspect Olver may likely get sent back down and Bordy be kept as 13th forward and occasional enforcer. That is assuming Olver is still waiver exempt for now, which I can't remember if that's correct.

well firstly Zanon won't be on the bench, 2nd Barrie is not a LD and third is I doubt Hejda-O'Byrne are going to be split up. Hunwick has always looked good in camp, but I don't think that means he will start right away. Barrie will start over him at this point.
