Flyers - Panthers

Something with the base of:

Gudbranson

B.Schenn or Read

I'm not sure of the exact value of the players but I feel that could fit the needs of both teams. Gives the Flyers a D and the Panthers some O. I also thought of Kulikov but it would be harder work into the cap.

Why do the Flyers need Gudbranson?

I would do it as a Flyers fan. Prefer to deal Schenn but Gudbranson has more value than both IMO.

In the best HF tradition,

B. Schenn + L. Schenn for Gudbranson + X.

X = NHL forward or low-ceiling, near-NHL forward prospect.

Go.

i mean, he's way to valuble for us right now and will only get better. if you look at the point total stats he hasn't done that much but he's a tough defensive d-man with a heavy slapshot from the point. there's talk that tallon is planing to put a C on him in a few.

also we don't really have any need for another gritty forward overall, especially a center. b. schenn is out of the picture.
read meets our needs pretty good is not that good that he'd bring you guddy. no way.

If the Flyers are going to trade Schenn, I'd rather him being used in a package for a #1 defenseman. Gudbranson doesn't fit that criteria

B. Schenn can't be the most valuable asset in a deal for a #1D....

Yea Schenn would get you a 2/3 at most. Unless you throw in a couple of firsts you're not getting a #1 with Schenn

yes please for the Flyers
would be borderline insanity if you wouldn't do this deal from the Flyers perspective...they're gonna need 4-5 new Dmen on the team over the next couple years

Well, not really, no.

Coburn, Streit, MacDonald, and L. Schenn are all signed and, baring a trade, part of the team's future. That leaves two spots open for Gostisbehere, Morin, Hagg, and Alt over the next few seasons. (Sanheim is a bit further away).

Trading B. Schenn straight across for Gudbranson doesn't necessarily make sense for that reason--the Flyers have a decent pipeline of young defenseman. Trading B. Schenn + a D for Gudbranson + F might make sense, depending on the forward.

The only d-man I see the Panthers moving is Brian Campbell. That obviously wouldnt work for the Flyers so I dont see much here.

Streit is in his late 30's and god help us if LSchenn and AndyMac are part of the team's future. The prospects you mention are just that at the moment. I like Gudbranson.

Why would the Panthers do this, Tallon pretty much said that Gudbranson is untouchable they're pretty high on him. I don't see Florida doing this deal.

Nope. Guds has been improving his game the past two years.

He has nothing in common with Schenn, other than being big. He can skate very well and his defensive game is coming along. He's no longer lost in the defensive end.

The only thing against Guds getting more ice time is that there are two better pairing above his.

I'd take on Campbell if the price is right and a good amount of salary is going back.

It would have to be Vinny or Umberger just to get close.

Unlikely--but it would fix some of the Flyers' short-term D issues (at least when healthy).

Campbell-Coburn
MacDonald-Streit

Is a playoff-caliber top-four with the Flyers forward group, IMO.

In the off chance Timonen comes back that could look really nice.

I'd do it, but I think the Panthers would want more than B. Schenn or Read...

I'm curious--why do you think Gudbranson holds more value than B. Schenn? Two former top-five picks (one year apart). Neither has lived up to the draft hype, but B. Schenn has certainly come closer to this point. I think he holds more value than Gudbranson--though perhaps that's just because I don't see much offensive upside in the latter.

it's not really bout gudbransons offensive stats. as i said before, he's an defensive d-man and they generally take longer to develop, plus he's the younger of the two.

as a trade this is a terrible proposal for the cats cuz we simply has no need what so ever for what schenn brings to table. value wise it's closer but not quite there.
