We believe that we have what it takes to battle for a playoffs spot. We had many trade discussions but we were not able to finalize deals that would make sense to our team.

Don't worry, pending trades are allowed to go through after the trade deadline.

Except that the trade deadline is on April 3rd and that before the trade deadline, Dallas was likely in a playoffs spot or close.

Also, placing Ryder as a healthy scratch just to get lower is the standings is ridiculous. Ryder would get 1st line minutes. And obviously, your 2nd line is your 1st line.

Hey Soli, are you not signing Jamie Benn to make sure you finish last?

Naw, Dallas wasn't anywhere close to a playoff spot. Pretty sure we were last. Yup, we were last.

Ryder was held out for precautionary reasons. He has since been traded.

Throwing Mika and Nazem to the wolves as a first line is crazy. They'll play soft competition on the 2nd line and will be sheltered as they begin their foray into the NHL.

Ilya Kovalchuk - Adam Henrique - Bobby Butler
Luke Adam - Bryan Little - Mattias Tedenby
Matt Ellis - Jacob Josefson - Steve Bernier
Krys Barch - Stephen Gionta - Cam Janssen

Bryce Salvador - Adam Larsson
Marco Scandella - Mark Fayne
Adam Pardy - Andy Greene
Peter Harrold

Martin Brodeur
Josh Harding

A re-stock year for New-Jersey, we'll be back as a strong contender next year but for this year, with so many UFA at the foward position, we decided to move them.

We're in negotiations with Nuckles about his client Jamie Benn. The new CBA has extended talks as our side want to make sure we understand the parameters before venturing into an agreement as important to our organization as Jamie is.

I was talking in terms of talent. Anyway, you have other options that the atrocious top line you have put in place.

Benn must be unhappy to not play a game this season. He will likely ask for a trade in the offseason.

Columbus will still get my vote!

Daniel Sedin-Henrik Sedin-Alex Burrows
David Booth-Ryan Kesler-Jakub Voracek
Chris Higgins-Dainius Zubrus-Jannik Hansen
Manny Malhotra-Maxim Lapierre-Zack Kassian
Dale Weise

Dan Hamhuis-Kevin Bieksa
Jason Garrison-Mike Weaver
Keith Ballard-Chris Tanev
Andrew Alberts

Roberto Luongo/Cory Schneider

Defense takes a hit with Edler's departure but I still think it's a solid group and Weaver is an underrated player who has proven chemistry with Garrison, less offense but better defensively. Plus having the best goaltending duo in the league helps out a lot. Up front I think I addressed two big weaknesses by finding the 2nd line a legit playmaker and a big, two-way 3rd line center.
