Your team needs/trade bait for 2012/2013 season

Winnipeg Jets:

- The most important would be that #1C
- LHD, perferably puck moving, but doesn't need to have a dynamite shot
- 3rd line RW, puck posession with some offensive instincts to pair with Antropov and Ponikarovsky

For assets:

- We have all of our picks in the 2013 draft, Chicagos 2nd and 3rd, and pick #59 for not signing Daulton Leveille.

- We have a glut of 2nd/3rd line C, including Wellwood (who played 2nd line wing and had a career high 47 pts), Little, Burmistrov, and Antropov. Burmistrov is fantastic on the PK. He's the most likely trade bait, with Antropov right behind him probably at the trade deadline.

- We have at least 5 shooting/offensive RHD in the system. Byfuglien, Bogosian, Postma, Trouba, Redmond. I could see Redmond or Postma being offered as trade bait. Postma just signed a 1-way and Redmond is down at the farm, but deserves a shot.

- The past two years the Jets seemed to have picked a lot of steals. Yuen (good +/- LHD), Lowry (6'5" LW 6th in WHL scoring), Kosmachuk (RW great sniper)

- We are content at goal (Pavelec, Montoya). No need to change anything there.

If I wasn't a Jets fan, I would have responded to this. (Shoulder shrug)

Ottawa could take on an expensive defenceman on a one year contract for cap/filler role. Prefer one that is of the defensive nature. On paper, we are out Cowan and Lundin to start the season.

Calgary Flames

Needs

A top 4 d-man (Bouwmeester, Giordano, Wideman, ______)

Brodie is not a top 4 d-man yet (although he's getting closer), Butler is a 5/6 guy, Sarich is now a 5/6 guy, Smith is a 6/7 guy, Not really any room for Babchuk.

A top 6 center

Cammalleri is likely going to start the year as the Flames top center, hes looked solid in his time last year.

We are hoping that Cervenka can slide into the second line position or perhaps Backlund.

Strengths/Assets

The Flames are fairly strong on the wing.

Tanguay - Iginla
Glencross - Hudler
Bartschi - Stempniak
Comeau - Jackman

To the OP: maybe something could be worked out with Edm, main pieces being Whitney and Burmistrov? When healthy, Whitney has shown to be a very good puck moving LH DMan, and with the extended offseason he should be good to go this season. From the Oil perspective, thought around town is Horcoff is gonna get bought out, so Burmi would be a good replacement for now and could potentially take over as the #2 guy.

It'd probably take more pieces, but something centered around that could work. Thoughts?

Rangers needs:

3C who can step into the top six if needed and play very good defense

2nd pairing defensive or two-way D

Top goalie prospect

Trade block:

Prospects other than Kreider. Skjei maybe.

Brian Boyle

Anton Stralman if Sauer recovers.

Gaborik, maybe. Probably only after we win a cup.
----
I'm from Minnesota, I follow the Wild so I might as well do one.
Needs:

Top-4 D, preferably LH (most important)

Goal scoring

Trade block:

Prospects (Dumba, Phillips would be tradeable and Granlund and Brodin and probably Coyle and Zucker are untouchable)

Setoguchi

Bouchard

Clutterbuck

I know it's been suggested a few times before, but something around Ballard for Antropov could be beneficial to both teams.

How does Ballard help the Jets? He has three years left on his deal at 4.2 million.

He wouldnt be a top 4.

Enstrom
Byfuglien
Bogosion
Hainsey

The Jets have Stuart/Clitsome/Postma to fill out the bottom pairing.

Trouba is also looking pretty good, wouldnt suprise me if he makes the Jets next year.

Vancouver NEEDS:

-#3 center
-One or two depth Defenseman

Vancouver could use as an upgrade:

-Top 6 winger
-#1 D-man
-Prospects in general

Vancouver will be looking to trade Luongo to fulfil needs and if applicable, package with someone else and upgrade the Top 6 or get that elusive #1 D-man (very unlikely).

He said that Winnipeg needs a "LHD, perferably puck moving, but doesn't need to have a dynamite shot" and that describes Ballard.

If Ballard plays like he did prior to arriving in Vancouver, then you get a top 4 d-man and it makes Hainsey expendable.
His style of play never meshed well with Vancouver's system, and a change of scenery would be very good for him.

*Sigh*

I wish. No way Florida goes for that. Although I have a strange feeling that he might end up the next Luke Schenn(who can still certainly put it all together, but...) But it's completely baseless, and I'd certainly have trade Luongo for Schenn straight up just after his rookie season, so, yeah.

Vancouver's trade bait:

Luongo
Ballard
Raymond

Vancouver's needs:

3rd line C
Top-6 RW
Defensive depth at the right side.

Hainsey only has one year left on his deal.

Just my opinion, but if i was a Jets fan, id rather just hold onto Hainsey and let Trouba slide into the number 4 slot for next year. They could probably re-sign Hainsey on a cheaper deal then Ballard also.

I just dont see the appeal for the Jets, unless the Canucks add.

Ballard could use a change of scenery, but I dont think he has ton of value at 4.2 million for three more years.

Liles for Clutterbuck? Liles was on iirc a 47 point pace as a defenseman before injury, and Leafs need some actual bottom 6ers.
--------------
AVAIL
-Prospects(Probably not Biggs+Kadri, surely not Rielly. Colborne would be top avail prospect)
-Picks excluding 2013 1st, will probably be the only way we get a 1C.
-Liles+MacA

Lupul-*1C NEEDED*-Kessel
JVR-Grabovski-Kadri/Frattin
Kulemin-Bozak-*3rd line winger wanted*
Komarov-McClement-Brown

Phaneuf-Gunnarson
Gardiner-*2nd pair TWD/DFD wanted*
Liles-Holzer

*1G NEEDED*-Riemer
Scrivens

I'll try and do the kings ( this is in my opinion only)

Needs

1st round pick in this coming draft.
a young scoring winger who will be ready for the 13 14 season prefer left wing
(some kings fans think i do not) a phyiscal defenseman

Available
Gagne *( i think hes the odd one out of our 6 lws that are on the roster
Martinez or suderi ( this would only be possible if dean thinks hickey or muzzin are ready)
dewiski
Johnathon bernier ( he has asked to be traded so he would be aviable but not giving him away.

To the OP: Sclemko could be a cheap acquisition maybe a draft pick
Coyote current top need: A 3rd line center to help with secondary scoring and be between Korpikoski and Moss.
They have wants which most likely be addressed during next off-season - top line center scoring RWer who is responsible on defense.
Available: Summers, Schlemko, (pending UFA) Torres, Bissonnette,

Maloney has stated that he would trade anybody if it would improve the Coyotes. With a large # of UFAs it's more likely the Coyotes will wait until free agency to acquire players so that they will not lose any assets (other than the players I listed as available) except maybe to acquire that 3rd line center.

I would love to see McDonald Back in Anaheim. He should fill your top 2 line center need though... He played fine there when we had him. He may not be big, but I don't remember his defense lacking. You could always have Backes center the second line. He is everything you listed for that spot. McDonald has more offensive upside anyway.

1) McDonald's body can't handle the physical demands of the center position in our system. He is exclusively a LW nowadays.

2) Backes is currently our #1 center.

Right now we have Backes, Berglund and Steen down the middle.
Ideally we'd like somebody to push Backes and/or Berglund down a line and move Steen back to LW(giving us McDonald, Perron and Steen on LW).

Admittedly this is more of a "want" than a real need, but our team is fairly set so we don't have much to look for.

Getzlaf
Holland
Koivu
Bonino

I don't exactly see a need for McDonald. Probably if Koivu retires, Getzlaf walks (very unlikely) or if Holland turns out to be not ready for the big show. The Ducks wouldn't have enough depth on the wings to ice 3 scoring lines (Perry, Ryan, Palmieri, Selšnne (if he doesn't retire)). DSP is good, but I'd rather see him together with Koivu and Winnik on a defensive-minded third line. Leaves Beleskey, Bonino and Staubitz for the 4th line.

Vancouver:

3rd line center with size OR 4th line center so Lapierre could move up to the 3rd line.
Play making winger to play with Kesler.
Gritty 4th line player that protects his teammates.

Raymond, Ballard, Booth, Alberts, picks, prospects could be available.

That's assuming Holland is ready to take over center duties right out of the gate. Remember that most centers get their feet wet as wingers first. Either way, we'd still need someone at LW, which Andy is more than capable of fulfilling.
