Prospect with top pairing potential. Obviously Briere doesn't get that done by himself, but thats what the Flyers need, and thats pretty much it. Either way hes not being moved though. He is on a cup contending team and is money in the playoffs with an immovable contract and a family situation that requires him to stay in the area.

I would do Briere for Boyle and not think twice. He's exactly the type of defenseman we could use in Philly, PMD righty, sucks losing Danny but I think getting a guy like Boyle would be ideal. Don't want anything to do with Markov. But you got the idea.

Correct, obviously we would add... And it would have to be the right situation, likely Flyers out of the playoff hunt trading Briere to a team that needs C depth and a proven playoff performer
Even if you were to add, I can't think of any scenario where such a player would be available of Briere were the centerpiece. If a team is looking to acquire Briere they are a team looking to compete for the cup. Playoff teams don't usually get young stud defensemen because of draft position, if they had one I think they'd cling to them at all costs.
Depends on the reason, I guess. If they can't sign him because he wants to go to July 1, then I can't see the Flyers agreeing to it. If it is simply a money issue and the Flyers feel confident that they can work out a deal, hell yeah.
Would love Briere on the Pens, and it would go well with his location situation. However, Pens and Flyers have the same needs currently and we're not the best trading partners. However, I wouldn't be terribly upset to see one of our D prospects as a part of a trade that got us Briere.

Going through this thread I was thinking the Pens would be a great trading partner with all the top d-prospects they have... great, you know, if they weren't the Pens.
Phoenix would be another team to look at and I'm sure they could use a guy like Briere during a playoff push, if the Flyers were out of it. Don't think Briere would waive his NMC to go there though.
