It won't be the farm. It will be more fair value for Vancouver for sure, but I think Toronto will succeed if they end up with Luongo.

yay, can't wait until MG destroys Nonis with this. Honestly, Nonis sucks as a GM. Not good news for Leafs fans. This is the same guy that was so high on Fabian Brunnstrom. Thank goodness MG took over before we had to go through that train wreck.

On the other hand, Nonis didn't have to give up too much for Luongo in the Canucks/florida deal. will be interesting.

That's how I feel.

Something along the lines of Bozak, Frattin and a 1st which is quite reasonable.

Funny how Canucks fans feel that Nonis will all of a sudden give top prospects and a 1st rounder for Luongo...

When Nonis and Anselmi were asked about Luongo you can just tell that this whole firing revolved around that situation.

Yes, I'm sure management would divulge that Luongo was a reason for the firing...

When asked about what Burke's dismissal meant about the Luongo deal at the press conference, the COO guy smiled and looked at Nonis, who gave a typical "we're not allowed to discuss these things publicly" answer.

Nonis ducked out of a Luongo question from reporters. By their looks alone it does seem that did play a factor. Just a "no, move on" type response.

Point?

Never said it was. Stating what was said at the presser for those who are not watching.

I still think it had something to do with Luongo.

I think Luongo got Burke fired. Already calling the shots.

Nonis: "We are looking for players that can play now to help support out young team"

Or something to that effect. Bridging the gap to start contending, says he doesn't want to gut the team, etc...

@jLupul: This changes absolutely nothing for our players/ we are focused - ready to go for camp.

*30 minutes later*

Nonis: you've been traded.

^^

NOW That would be funny.

Man, Nonis is so boring....I miss Burke already. Nonis talks like a robot.

He is widely credited with destroying Vancouver, hence some of our terrible performances. Gillis took the job and we became not only a better team but arguably one of the most dominated it. Call it jaded but you will find very few Canuck fans not glowing at the idea Nonis might ruin another team.

Judging my Nonis' body language, I think he is as shocked as anyone. This doesn't seem like something that was a long time coming. Seems very sudden.

I think Nonis was a fine GM. He really inherited a terrible team in Van and did alright with it.

That's not really fair.

Not the biggest Nonis supporter, but he didn't destroy the Canucks. He dragged his feet and was too scared to make a few big changes, but did nothing to destroy the team.

Biggest mis-step was opting to keep Jovo and re-sign Naslund instead of trading Jovo or letting Nazzy walk and sign Scott Niedermayer.

He was also extremely ineffective during the trade deadline.

I believe he was referring to selling core players for futures, as some Leafs fans would advocate.
