Ranger's strength was their oppressive D and wanton shot blocking. If you have neither of those, their goaltending is ridiculously exposed. Doesn't help that Hank hadn't played a serious game since last May.

Ya, I kind of doubt Peluso plays tomorrow either, though you never know seeing as Boston has some big, tough forwards in Lucic and Thornton. May not be a bad idea to play Peluso and see what he can offer. This would be a perfect game to see if he can skate, hit, be an asset and possibly fight if need be. The stage would be set as I think all of those ingredients could be used tomorrow vs the B's.
I never really thought Chara was actually a good fighter. His dad was a wrestler and sometimes that's all Chara does is just bear-hug people down.

Otherwise he does ragdoll some guys, but it's very similar to Byfuglien. Neither are proficient fighters (they don't throw punches terribly well), but both are just so big and strong I've seen them lift other guys straight off their skates.

The one thing the Rangers did very well last year is play 82 games like they were in the playoffs. I remember watching them diving in front of shots early in the year in our house and I was thinking at the time if that level of commitment was sustainable. Well last year they did keep it up but we will see if Torts can get them playing with that type of commitment again this season.

looking forward to the Oil and the Nucks later.

Yup, been waiting for this one all day. I've been quite interested in the Oilers development for the past couple of years.

In the spirit of buying low I am going to predict Nail has a very big rookie year. He has been under allot of pressure lately like at the WJC to carry his team and I think that has provided a challenge for him. I really think he will thrive in a sheltered low pressure roll on the 2nd line with Gagner and Hemsky. Most of the eyes are on the kids and Schultz and Nail will have pressure but much less I believe.

Agree, ps. It should and hopefully will be a good fit for him. With so much young talent he (likely) won't be the focal point of opposing teams.

Wow... Oilers 2nd PP -- Yakupov, Smyth, Hemsky, Gagner, Whitney.

Yuck

This team will be fun to watch, I'm almost sad I jumped ship

Used to hate the Oilers but I can't hate this lineup. So much young talent. At least they still have Ben Eager to direct my ire towards.

I have a soft spot for Ben Eager because he did this:

And no I'm not well wishing injury, but after all the dirty hit and runs Armstrong has done in his career I felt it was a nice comeuppance.

What a beautiful backhand goal by Eberle.

Looks like Lou may be the one with the black eye after that backhand.

I remember that game. Didn't Toronto score like 4 or 5 times on that PP? Guess the joke was on Eager after all.

Eberle with a slick backhand - bit of poor positioning by Lou. Teams HAVE to hate it when they give up a softy just before a period runs out.

Watching the Coyotes/BlackHawks stream, every time the Hawks have scored the crowd has gone nuts. Looks like Jamison is a NO-SHOW at the game, don't think that bodes well for him purchasing the Coyotes any time soon.

Good lord. Who would want to be a goalie facing the Oilers in a shoot out?

I've given up caring what happens in the Phoenix soap opera.

I hate me some Oiler, but that team has a VERY bright future. Jordan Eberle is incredible, and their cast of #1's are not half bad either. That said, St. Louis looks like they are going to be absolutely nasty too. The move into a new division/conference next year will invariably net us one of those two as mates. I'm just hoping its not both.
