I ALMOST feel bad for LeafNation. The better Seguin and Hamilton do the deeper that dagger goes in LeafNation's hearts. There's a meltdown going on tonight at the news that Hamilton is going to stay up in the NHL
I hope that plug is pulled by the end of the week.
Enough is enough
I honestly don't know why Jamison is trying to buy the Coyotes. The team just doesn't work there, I saw their home opener and it looked sold out. Next game at home and it was a complete ghost town. At this point it's not even about hating them because that's where the Jets went but it's getting sad that a place like that is clinging to life while other locations that can fully support an NHL team are left in the dust.
Business is Business I guess, as long as there's someone to buy and fill someone else's pockets this mess will continue.
This is last years' info - if the Jets average was $98 last year, it must be over $100 this year (+3% = $101.22). And is this face value or STH prices?
By my approximate reckoning, the face value average ticket price for this season would be about $121. There are 13000 STH's paying about 25% less than face value (avg = $91). 1250 seats are sold at face value. I have no idea what the luxury box ticket average is - but I'm sure it's above P1, so those 700-800 seats would bring the average up to around $100.
To put some perspective on those numbers, the Jets selling 14250 tickets at an average price of $98.27 is the equivalent of selling 24,524 seats at the league average ($57.10). Or 38,737 tickets at the Coyotes price of $36.15!
I'd look into sources for that. I live in Buffalo and go to Sabres games all the time, there isn't a chance in hell the "average" is $38.
Literally the cheapest ticket you can buy (300 Level II for a Value game) is $39.
Yep, just checked the Sabres site and I estimate the face value ticket average to be approximately $102 for this season. However, it looks like STH's get about a 50% discount off face value (avg. Sabres regular season STH ticket = $54.11). Not sure how many Sabres season ticket holders there are, so split it down the middle and say the average ticket price is $78. In any event, it's way higher than $38, so those ticket price averages seem pretty suspect.
