If Falk can't go tomorrow night do we really want a pairing of Spurgeon-Prosser?

Seems like Yeo came up with a reasonable possibility to get through one game to me.

I actually disagree with this.

From what I have seen, Brodin's shot gets on net more often than Spurgeon's.

I really have never understood this love-fest with Spurgeon. He's a decent player, don't get me wrong, but at best he's a second pairing d.

He's horrible at keeping the puck in at the blue line, his shot is only ok, defensively he can sometimes take a forward, but frequently gets knocked on his ass or killed along the boards, his positioning is decent but nothing noteworthy, and forget it if there is a forward in the crease. I've tried to like him as much as some, but I just am always left waiting for more.

IMO, he does not bring anything new to the table that Suter, Gilbert, and Brodin aren't already providing to a greater degree.

Ill agree with you to some extent..but Spurgeon was a genius find by management. A player written off by the team that drafted him.

He's a perfect 4-5 puck mover and has some pretty good offensive value that you underrate. Right now he is a better offensive defenseman than Brodin. He's more polished. Obviously Brodin's ceiling offensively is higher but the Wild is a much better team with Spurg in the lineup.

I'll agree with that. I actually like Spurgeon as the #4 dman. I'm not at all against him in our lineup, just not in the #2 spot or the #1 pp. I will also agree that he is a little more polished than Brodin. Brodin does have a ways to go, but that is just fine, and to be expected.

With all the injuries to other teams I'm glad the Wild for once have hardly any.

With Falk sick and frankly coming off a rough game, Nate Prosser will almost certainly play. I've got to look it up, but I don't think he's been on for a goal against this year.

Ive said a few times I'd rather see Prosser play than Falk..Falk hasn't impressed me this year. He plays very soft for a big guy..Prosser plays with that edge we need from a 5-6 defenseman. Also he will move someone from out of the net..something our other d need work on.

Not a fan of Processor at all, but Falk has been so much of a falking disgrace this season that yeah....might as well play Nate over the guy.

If Zucker is called up though I replace Bouchard with him.
First thing I looked for and liked about those lines is there is no forward playing defense!

I made em' mostly because we need a right handed shot on the point on each line, something Yeo doesn't seem to understand. And since Seto is playing on the 2nd forward PP unit, it has to be either Spurgeon or Clutterbuck on the point.

I'd say...screw the PP, make those the damn first two lines. Seriously.

We could still be leapfrogged by the Oilers, Flames, or Kings (Assuming they get the tiebreaker due to ROW). Overall, though, not bad. If this team can sort some stuff out and play with a bit of confidence they'll be fine.

Power Rankings round-up:

Feb 18 Devils Insiders #18
Quote:
18. Minnesota Wild 7-6-2 (16 points) [#20 last week]
I almost feel like this team is destined to ride the wave of wins and losses all season without going in one direction or the other. One would think this is a playoff team, but they haven’t given you much of a reason to believe that quite yet.
Feb 18 ESPN #16
Quote:
(+4 from last week)The Wild got a huge win Sunday after falling behind 2-0 against Detroit. Darcy Kuemper got the start in goal for the Wild and stopped 29 of 31.
Feb 17 Bleacher Report #11
Quote:
Last week: 20

Record: 7-6-2

The Avalanche loss was a letdown, but at least the Wild are beginning to score.

Perhaps they’ve found the right line combinations, or maybe it was just the lack of a training camp, but whatever it is, the Wild are finally playing up to their talent level.

Things should only go up from here for Minnesota.
Most others haven't updated since last week. If I think of updating later today I can find the others as they are released today. Looks like most people are starting to brighten up to the Wild a bit. That's good.
