Crap!!! We just paid nearly $200 million for two players to get us over the hump when all this time we just needed that extra minute for cleaner ice!! Just think of how much faster those boys could have been last year.

Poppped my head in and watched practice for 20 minutes today..folks the Heatley, Parise and Koivu line is going to be unreal. #unfair
Meanwhile, LaPanta has his twitter account on "private?" He's protecting his tweets. Seriously? Even Greenlay kept his account totally public through all of the criticism and bashing he's been through. The new guy looks pretty dang sensitive.

The only reason Brodin was in Houston in the first place was the lockout.

To clarify, I meant after this major injury.

the one-ways can still mess things up. if we can't dish some, one or two players are going to find themselves on waivers I think.

This major injury is not keeping him from being in shape. It's a broken collar bone. He's been skating through this entire thing. Once the bone heals, it's actually stronger than it was prior to getting the break.

I'm sorry people, I'm doing a terrible job even clarifying. I didn't mean the type of injury that was sustained, what I meant was because he missed a lot of time (due to the major injury).

But thanks for the info TaLoN, I didn't know that about the recovery from a broken collarbone.

As far as Brodin is concerned, I don't feel he's too far off from making the team. There's something to be said about holding him off from an extended stay just to get him better acclimated in the AHL, but he's such a skilled/smart player that I wouldn't be furious if he latched onto one of the top 4 spots. Either way, the nice thing about if Brodin makes the team going into next year, there are three expiring defenseman contracts in Prosser, Stoner, and Gilbert (ignoring our RFA's). So hopefully, we can get something in a trade for one or two of those guys (preferably Prosser/Stoner).

I'm less worried about Brodin's missed time than I am about those who haven't played a real hockey game since last season.

I'm worried about Brodin coming back and being tossed right to the NHL, I don't want any lingering doubt about the collarbone injury and playing in the NHL to mess with his head.

I hope if the plan is for him to play on the Wild this year hes given atleast 10 games in the AHL before coming up.

He's not that kind of player. Granted, I think Brodin is Superman, but I'll think he'll handle it fine if he has to.

10 games in AHL equals (in time) about 15-17 games in NHL. There wouldn't be many regular season games in the NHL after that. I think he should play a week or two weeks - if at all - of AHL games and then move up. Depending on his current health atm.

I can't believe how scared everyone is of giving Brodin 2-3 games with the Wild until Scandella is back. To me it seems like completely baseless fear.

It feels weird to read some people predicting the Wild to be in, or win, the Stanley Cup Finals...

Teams with big free agent signing always get a bump right before the season begins. Everybody starts thinking who is going to win it all and teams that have improved on paper get tossed in the mix.

@TGfireandice: Brodeur on Parise: “Even though somebody is going to tell you we won’t miss Zach, come on. We’re going to miss him.”

@TGfireandice: Brodeur on Parise cont: "“The guy, he’s unbelievable. There’s a reason why Minnesota gave half the state to him.”

@TGfireandice: If Parise got half the state of Minnesota to sign with the Wild, did Ryan Suter get the other half?

Meanwhile we're ranked 20th in the power rankings. My guess is we're somewhere between those two predictions.

Konopka sounds like a top lad.
