I feel so bad for Nino. He's a dynamic player but I suppose Snow and Capuono are hellbent on screwing him up.

So that's Bailey, Niederrieter, Comeau and I'm sure there's another high end prospect that has been woefully mishandled and had their development marred. They make AV and Gillis look like Einstein and Hawking.

yeahhh.
I think Raymond is an asset worth trading, that another team would take a chance on at such a low salary.

de Haan too? Or has he just been derailed because of injuries?

I'd gladly take Bailey off their hands...

I'm assuming something with Grabner. Maybe Kesler if Raymond-Kesler-Grabner was ever a line, I can't remember.

Ok, this is pure fantasy and would need input from Isles and Avs fans. I'm terrible at this, but feel free to edit, make additions, subtractions, whatever you think would be necessary.

Ballard and Raymond for Nino

Lu for RoR and Giguere

Sedin Sedin Burrows
Booth Kesler Higgins
Nino ROR Kassian
Malhotra Lappy Hansen

Edler Garrison
Hamhuis Bieksa
Alberts Tanev

Schneider
Giguere

I don't think we get Nino for that, but the Colorado one I think is possible.

We have to keep in mind ROR isn't signed yet, so we're essentially trading for his RFA rights. I'm not entirely sure what the hold up is between him and Colorado, but if he wants more than 5M we're going to have some issues.

Ah, you're right. That was a line, in fact - it was pure, unbridled speed. Holy hell was it fast. Don't think they stuck together for too long though.

It was a line & in the brief moments they played together they were one of my favorites! You probably forget about them being a line because they were so fast it didn't input a memory in your brain.

Ahahahah, I guess not eh? In the post I acknowledge that the value is probably off. I'm curious if that type of deal would be of interest to the teams.

Well...Normally I don't jump into other teams boards...but since you said you needed input from Avs fans

I'll make this clear right now. Absolutely none, zero, interest in Luongo. He does not fit into our age group and we don't need him. Varlamov is our starter. He has a ton of potential, and he can play incredibly well. His biggest problem is consistency and injuries, but he is only 24. Still a ton of time to grow. Also, the Avs are rather cheap. If we won't pay ROR 5m, we wouldn't we pay Luongo over 5m for the next 10 years.

Fair enough. Thanks for being concise. The AVs biggest need is a bonafide Top 4 D yeah?

(And I'm not referring to Ballard)

Ideally top pairing LH defensman to play with EJ.

Edler would have been perfect

Interesting... Niederreiter would be a nice add, giving the Canucks more youth and edge.

He fits exactly the type of player the Canucks have been looking to add, but I don't think NYI lets him go. I think they give him the Bailey treatment. Just wait him and force him to re-sign with the club when it's time.

Nino is staying in NYI for a long time me thinks.

Not that Ballard would necessarily be the perfect fit on a top-pair...but i do think Ballard would be an interesting fit with the Avs and the style of play there. And when you look down their Left side...yikes. Pair Ballard with a steadier guy like Johnson/O'Byrne/Hejda on the right side and you've got something maybe.

I don't see how NYI would be interesting i Luongo seriously. I mean, are they keen on going from one terrible goaltending contract straight to another? I guess it is the Isles and they are prone to idiotic decisions now and then...but really? And honestly, i'm just lukewarm on Nino. He has a lot of things to like...but the way he completely fell on his face in limited minutes (good job Isles) still makes me question him as a prospect. I mean, it's a ridiculous and terrible situation to throw a prospect who isn't ready into...but it does worry me that it seems to have seriously stunted his growth. Being away from Johansen perhaps? idk. But it worries me.

You are right. It is pure fantasy
The isles acquire two pieces they don't want, for 1 they want to keep.

Nino's not a ufa for another 5 and 1/2 seasons. He's in the 2nd yr of his ELC.

His agent said in an interview that discussed their trade demand, that he expects tough contract talks with Snow in two yrs, when Nino is a rfa.

Snow has said he's not trading Nino. The isles have hockey analysts like McKenzie saying they are handling Nino the right way this season and he doesn't see them trading him. Even if the press did bash Snow, I doubt it'd change Snow's mind about moving Nino.

I said as much I think? Nino is not going anywhere for a long time, whether he likes it or not. Not even worth talking about really...

On another note, if Burrows has a game like he did today again, or keeps up this type of play at C, there's your 3C option. With Burrows, Lapierre, Malhotra and Schroeder in the mix for that 3C position, this team is well covered. It's not ideal, but there are options. Now if Gillis were to get a 3C and another prospect 2way C in trade, well then that should shore up the position for very long time.

I wonder if we'll see Malhotra tutoring him on faceoffs in practice like he did with Coho.

Where the hell would we play Neiderreiter anyway? Pretty sure he doesn't want to toil on a bottom line anymore at this point which could be the reason for the potential trade demand. When the team is healthy he would have no spot on the wing, provided a winger wasn't part of the trade.

He's a good young player that the Islanders need and have space for. They'll figure it out, and if not, he'll go to a younger team with more room on the wings.
