Weber. If for no other reason than longer sustained success.

Umm... Weber?

Pietro might be a better puck mover, but I would much rather have the solid defense of Weber. Don't think this one will be very close.

Weird. I'd actually say it's the other way around. Weber is a better scorer, but Pietro gets burned less on D. Weber has the shot and hitting, but without Suter backing Weber up, Pietro is steadier. I couldn't blame someone for choosing Weber just based on preferring his style, but I don't think his defense is superior to Pietro's at all.

If the question is, "Who is better right now?" then the answer is Weber, if the question is, "Who would you want going forward?" then the answer is extremely tricky. In fact if somebody told me I could place any defensemen in the NHL on my team right now, I'd be debating between Pietrangelo and Weber.

You realize it's Suter that was covered by Weber, not the other way around right?

And you probably haven't watched any Nashville games.

It's far from that simple. Suter is a terrific player and, as a pairing, they're both better than they are apart. Maybe I should have been more clear, but I was not trying to describe Weber as a guy who needs someone to cover up his mistakes - rather, that whenever he does make a mistake, Suter is a fantastic option, especially compared to Carlo Freaking Colaiacovo.

Regardless, I think Pietro is steadier defensively. Weber might be more of what any given team needs, because he provides more meanness and more goal-scoring pop, but I strongly disagree with the characterization that Pietro's defense doesn't match his own puck movement - it exceeds it.

Have to give the nod to Weber for his physical dominance on the ice.

Who I'd take going forward is a different story though.

I'm a fan of Pietro but there's just no reason not to pick Weber here at this point.

There is no defenseman in the league I would take over Weber, so him.

But Piet would definitely be #2 on my list for my team.

Weber's better right now, but I wouldn't trade Pietrangelo for Weber if that makes any sense.

Weber, even if we're just taking in last years play. Add in the years of being an elite d-man and this isn't close.

Weber for sure.

Don't get me wrong, both are great d-men, and Pieterangelo does have areas in which he is better than Weber, but Weber wins overall, with the combination of size, strength, defensive awareness, offensive ability, physicality, etc..

I'm a huge fan of Pietrangelo and I'd take him going forward. Weber is great don't get me wrong and is definitely one of the 3 best D man out there at the moment but I just really like Alex

Right now Weber is the #1 defenseman in the league. Has to be him.

In a few years I think Alex Pietrangelo has the potential to be the top in the NHL.

I voted Weber as I'm assuming this is talking about right now.

Weber and Pietrangelo are more likely going to stay steadily one of the best D-men trough years.

I love Pietrangelo. But you have to go with Weber here.
