Dmitry Kulikov?

Didn't know where to put this so just made a new thread:

What happened to Kulikov? Is he still a RFA? Is Tallon gonna sign him?

George Richards said he was on his way back from Russia I believe. Yes, he's still an RFA and Yes Tallon is planning on re-signing him.

Was he offered a contract extension before like Ellerby or is this gonna be the first attempt at re-signing him? What do you see his contract looking like in terms of years and salary?

This will be the first attempt. I'm hoping around $3 million so it can be an absolute steal of a contract. But realistically, he might get around $4 million but we'll see.

Kuli hasn't shown enough consistency to get 3 mil in my opinion. Wade Redden was an all star too...

However, I think he has the true potential to be a 5 mil d-man, if he'd more often show the side we've all seen (looking like the best in the entire league at times).

He might just sign a short term contract now. His agent really dropped a bomb if he cant get a long term deal. I think before the lockout he could got 4M$ / 5-6years easily. Now it's a new ball game

Any concerns locally about an offer sheet?

I dont think teams were able to sign him to an offer sheet for some reason. I remember that prior to the lockout that it was stated why but cant remember now.

I would assume that that was only true less than 10 days before the expiration of the CBA--since FLA would not have had the opportunity to match. He should be subject to offer sheets--and I believe the new CBA tweaks RFA compensation.

It isn't that I expect anything to happen, but after the Flyers aggressive courtship of Weber and rumored interest in Subban, there has been some speculation that Kulikov might be an under-the-radar option.

I don't know enough about Florida's financial (cap-wise and real money) to tell whether its completely idle or fantastical speculation. That's why I was asking whether anyone down there had voiced concern.

he will definitely be signed, hopefully around 3.75, like ive been saying, anything under 4 per is a steal imo. i think 3.75 is good for both sides, and anything under that would be amazing! hopefully a 4+ year contract (hoping for 5+).

It was because he is coming off his entry level contract...not sure if this ended up being true or not though.

But so was Stamkos? I'm not sure that's accurate. Either way, I don't see an offer sheet. Anybody has to know the Panthers would match.

But maybe not to play for the Panthers.

He can't be sheeted because they sent him the QO,

Any trade involving Kulikov where he's the best player in the trade will be a disappointment. Kulikov is going to be a #1 d-man for a long time.

What is a reasonable contract for a "#1 D man in the FUTURE"?

Luke Schenn got $18M over 5 yrs (3.6M/yr cap hit) after his entry level deal expired. I'd rather have Kulikov than Schenn but seems to be a fair comparison in terms of a deal.

If it had gone to arbitration, Zach Bogosian's deal is a fair comparison too...$5M total for 2 yrs ($2.5M cap hit). Guess if we could get him on a short 2nd contract like that to prove he's more of a future #1 guy, that makes more sense to me.

Schenn's deal works for me. Its not a terrible dollar figure for the amount of years.

What if he is being crazy like Subban (but not as crazy) and he thinks he should be paid alot more than $3.5 million? He is good, but is he that good?

I have a feeling he's going to get well over 3 million, and probably something around 3.5-4.
