GDT Feedback

Feedback on anything below is welcome, but for the sake of the poll, I'm just trying to gauge what to include and exclude from future threads.
  1. Is there a more preferred thread title format? If so, what?
  2. Do you prefer game preview blurbs + links or just game preview links?
  3. In-depth opponent POV (articles, interviews, team report): yay or nay to each?
  4. Are the lineup images readable enough for you or do you prefer text-based lineups?
  5. Anything to add or exclude from the team report information (news notes, transactions, stats)?
  6. Do you need to see an individual stat or leaders comparison?
  7. Do you prefer audio or video clips for interviews?
  8. Did anyone experience problems with the content that was linked?
  9. Any other headers you'd like me to consider adding, like I did with "Around the Boards"?
  10. And is there anything else you have to add or say?

At various points I've used all of it. Add, don't subtract! Lemme take this opportunity to say great job, by the way. Minimalistic GDTs don't bother me, but they are senselessly useless when they could be interesting and useful.

If you change the GDTs I may have to throw your shoes off the balcony Woodhouse.

Any foreseeable changes will be minor tweaks IMO; ie. adjusting header colors / stripes to the home or away jersey now that our third is retired.

I really appreciate your GDTs. I don't think that you have to change something.

Your GDT's are legendary Woodhouse, thank you so much for the time and effort. Agreed with others who have said no need to change anything

Your GDT's kick so much ass. They don't render so well on my iPhone 4 (the roster lineups get mixed up for the two teams playing), but that's about all I could complain about. Keep up the great work!

I like the idea of changing the look due to the fact that the third jerseys are retired. But on the same hand, it's a sharp look. I could go either way. For me, what was mentioned earlier is my take as well. I don't read thru everything on the GDT's every game. I might read/view 2-4 things. But it's usually different every game. The only thing (and I may be in the minority) is the links to the top threads on HF boards. I don't ever click on those because, either I've most likely read it, or doesn't interest me.

But I am with the crew here, it's been really cool having your GDT's Woodhouse. No matter how you tweak it, I'm sure it will be awesome!

Dude, before you started doing them, our GDTs were some of the laziest on the boards.

We finally got a proper GDT maker/format, woohoo!

You take the time to make these threads and took the time to ask these questions so I'll give my opinion...
  • Is there a more preferred thread title format? If so, what?
  • Only thing I would consider adding is the networks that it will be broadcast on
  • Do you prefer game preview blurbs + links or just game preview links?
  • No preference
  • In-depth opponent POV (articles, interviews, team report): yay or nay to each?
  • (yay, yay, yay)
  • Are the lineup images readable enough for you or do you prefer text-based lineups?
  • Images are fine
  • Anything to add or exclude from the team report information (news notes, transactions, stats)?
  • IDK, injuries always most important to me
  • Do you need to see an individual stat or leaders comparison?
  • Nice to see, I don't need it
  • Do you prefer audio or video clips for interviews?
  • Video
  • Did anyone experience problems with the content that was linked?
  • Not once but I didn't try everything
  • Any other headers you'd like me to consider adding, like I did with "Around the Boards"?
  • None that I can think of
  • And is there anything else you have to add or say?
  • Keep up the good work. If I can think of anything that could be added, I'll suggest it in the future.
I know that wasn't entirely helpful but I'm not a huge stat guy. I just like to see interviews, game previews, lineup and injury reports basically. The quick links to streams were nice while I was away from home and while TWC didn't have MSG.

Keep up the awesomely thorough work

With the wife running late yesterday, I had ten minutes to toy with the headers (aka Home vs Away stripes) before we headed out. This theme looks good enough, right?

- Okay, so I'm likely going ahead with the headers seen above for 2012-13. I briefly toyed with a white jersey theme, but there was too much whitespace IMO.

- Do we need a GDT for the 2012 Entry Draft? I can throw one together if so. I'd include previews, url roundups, quotes, a/v and streams per usual, but is the chat certain to be up? I'd imagine so.

I would love that. I can post play by play commentary because I will be there! Would keep my Iphone handy to take pictures and post them in the GDT. Hopefully I can get our draft picks signatures on my jersey! Thanks so much for your GDT all year, really appreciated!

It all seems good to me. If you're going to update them every so often during the season I recommend adding an additional table that shows splits e.g. last 10 games, etc

With the lockout, I'll spitball a few other thread ideas to consider; some require hockey, others don't. Thoughts?
  • Spruce up and maybe condense sticky threads
    • ie. Visiting Buffalo thread would now include crowd-sourced maps of parking (and costs), good eats (wings, beef-on-weck) and bars, popular hotels, shopping, etc. as well as indices for those highlighted among others
    • ie. Merge twitter and cap to one roster/staff/prospects/media table index (incl. column for twitter, contracts) with last line combos, injury report, lockout location + url, etc.
  • Crowd-source a history, alumni and/or where are they now thread
    • Nostalgic, "better days" posts could also go here
    • Tidbits like charities, camps, kids in hockey, etc. too
  • The Blame Game / Excuses Excuses / or some other name thread
    • A possible addendum to the GBU threads
    • The format I haven't quite nailed down (input welcome) but some sort of crowd-sourced vote to assess fault, if any, for each GA to track (players, types GA, frequency) in another thread or post
    • ie. SABRE -- O-/N-/D-Zone Turnover (others: coverage/positioning, penalty, equipment, referee/linesman whistle/no-whistle, stanchion/fluke, deflection, good individual effort/skill, etc.)
  • The Tally-ho thread would track random things spotted in the media, ie.:
    • Number of ''reason for existence" or "I'd go drill a well" references
    • Last day Drury and/or Briere were mentioned
    • Fire Ruff and Regier tallies
    • "Top shelf where mama hides the cookies" and other RJ, Ray, Roby, KSly, Duff quotes and calls
    • Hockey cliches pre-, post-game
    • Intermission interview tally
