Hall vs. Seguin (Better Player to Build Around)

Yes, original topic.

The last poll I found was conducted during last season. I wanted to see where HF stands on them now, going into the new season.

Select the player you think would be better to build around.

Edit: a little bit conflicting questions in the title and poll. All I want to know is which player you think will be better going forward in their careers.

This poll feels familiar

I'll take Seguin. I won't bother slandering Hall since he doesn't deserve to be, he's a great player who can take over at any point. Seguin is raw still, but I love his skill set I do feel safer with Seguin from an injury perspective, but I also think that he will be the better overall player due to his wide-ranging skill set and his elite vision. Having the heavy shot he has with the ability to make great reads will make him hard to figure out in the long run.

Hall. The guy oozes work ethic, leadership and determination. All the things you want out of a young star player.

Hall. Injuries are the only thing that hold him back.

This.

Both will be great. I like Hall's game more, but worry about him physically holding up.

Seguin.. Hall has better leadership skills but I think Seguin is/will be the better player. And it's better to build around centers.. which I think Seguin will eventually be.

I think he's going to tear it up this season.

I think Hall's north-south game doesn't bode well for injuries as he ages. I think he's the slightly better player, but will probably play fewer games on a year-to-year basis.

Peak will probably be Hall. To build around I'd take Seguin as he's a centre and would likely last longer.

Seguin's a RWer.

But I'll still take him.

In Boston, because they have Krejci and Bergeron, but I'm pretty sure he's a natural centre.

Both are having exceptional seasons so far in the league they have been playing in. Seguin had 40 points in 29 games in the Swiss league and Hall with 34 in 26 in the AHL.

I voted Hall. I think he can be a more dominant player shift to shift. I'm also an Oiler fan. We'll see though, Both are promising players for their respective franchise.

Boston fans know where I stand on this issue. I like Hall a little more. I don't think what Seguin brings outweighs what Hall brings. He's the better offensive player and I think the main reason anyone would you take Seguin over Hall at this point is because of the injuries.

In some cases, yes, he can be. But in this poll, it's close and most posters are acknowledging both are great players. Seems fair to me so far.

Though I don't think the injury prone thing is accurate when 2 of his big injuries were: his face being stepped on, and a freak fall during a fight. Unless you consider these to be common events...

True, it's closer now, but Seguin was winning 5-0 at the time I posted.

For the Bruins I'd take Seguin, I think he is and will be better, but I wouldn't disagree with anyone taking Hall either. Hall is definitely more of a leader, and perhaps more of a "build around" player.

You can definitely build around Seguin, too, but Boston is built around a whole bunch of forwards, and he's fit in perfectly and is definitely one of, if not the most important of all of them. Depending on your needs, Seguin could play center, too. And, as mentioned, Hall isn't exactly the most durable guy. Both will be great players but this poll is really getting old.

I will take Seguin but only because of Hall's injuries.

I think that Hall is the better fit for the Oilers but Seguin will turn out to be the slightly better player. I know it's difficult to measure intangibles but just watching Hall consistently play harder than everybody else on the ice and with the way he conducts himself with the media, it's easy to see why so many consider him captain material, he just has the "it" factor which will show out even more if/when the Oilers become a winner. However, Seguin has a more diverse skillset so i think he could very well be the better player in the long run, it's close either way.

I would of taking Seguin at the draft, after their rookie years, after their sophomore years & I'm still taking him now. For me personally Hall will always be an injury risk( that lowers his value to me as someone I would build around) and I also think there peak years will be pretty much the same, Hall with more goals, Seguin more assists (it also doesn't hurt that I value C much more then W).

Seguin, wouldn't be surprised to see Hall having the better peak years though

Seguin. Injuries to Hall put him clearly behind. I still probably choose Seguin, but it would be a WAY harder choice. I'd probably go back and forth a tonne!
