Mike Bossy scored 70 goals in the QMJHL at 16 years old.

Not comparing Reid to him.

Saying I think he will overcome his critics and be a good NHL scorer.

I follow the OHL quite a bit, but I didn't realize Boucher has 51 goals. I thought it was a typo from the Oshawa General Twitter account saying so

Thanks for the link. This clip shows how he can find the open areas and his shot is ridiculous. He isn't really even facing the goal when he receives the pass, and his 1-timer is aimed perfectly at the top corner. Impressive.

This shot...my goodness. The Flyers run a play where Hartnell curls around the back of the net and floats in reverse to the top of the slot where RB shot from. In the highlights I've seen if Boucher has the slightest opening, the puck is fired into a dangerous area. I cannot wait to see a Boucher, Kovalchuk power play.

he has a bunch of fans on this board. We all expect him to become Volchenkov`s replacement, eventually.

I haven't seen much of Helgeson, how's his speed and skating?

Not worse than Urbom`s and that`s impressive for such a big body. I truly believe he and Severson have a spot on our future defense.

Not worse than Urbom's? Urbom is a very good skater, so if that's really the case, then I'm excited.

Okay, looking back at it, that may be a stretch (let`s say he isn`t much worse, that`s a fairly big compliment too), but from what I`ve seen, he`s a very solid skater and I`ve always been impressed with him. Any by impressed I mean surprised, in a positive way. You just don`t expect him to be this mobile when you look at him and his physical play. Not much of a puck mover, but isn`t a grenade handler either. Haven`t really seen him hit people like pre-Devils Volchenkov though, plays more of a Zubrus-style of game. He can overpower people, simply separate them from the puck using his strength.

Pretty much all of our defensive prospects are decently mobile, even the big guys. It is pretty clear that Lou and Conte put a renewed emphasis on that when drafting the last few years. Bodes well for the future.

Helgeson should get some AHL time at the end of this year along with a contract.

There may not be room for him. There's 9 minor defensemen under contract if you count Harry Young (currently listed as LW on the roster).

Those were the swinging 70's when nobody played defense and goalies wore heavy small equipment.

Were goal-per-game players relatively common in juniors back then? Legitimate question.
