You mean Jared. Don't know what happened but I follow him on twitter as well and he has been offline for a while. He did a great job so hopefully our new guy is just as good.

Hmmmm.....he was traded for a 14th round pick, which upgrades to a 7th IF he ever suits up for Oshawa. Is he thinking of going back to Belarus?

It happens. I used to write a lot for fun, but some times life gets in the way. I still never posted my experience from the 2011 Draft, and that ended up being a 30,000 (or some ungodly amount) word monstrosity.

That's why I didn't write about my draft experience last year. and no one would read it either.

Probably mentioned in another thread, but just in case, Severson named to Canada's summer WJC camp.

Morgan Severson? Is that just a typo or his actual name?

I assumed it's just a typo with Morgan Rielly being the previous name.

It's time to rebuild in New Jersey. Unless they get Amazing goaltending from Brodeur and Schneider(which is very possible) they will once again miss the playoffs and not even get a 1st round pick because of the Kovalchuk situation. They've been a defensive team and they need to get more goal scorers. Jagr won't contribute much and Elias isn't what he used to be and Brodeur could retire any time now. they need to get younger like the rest of the league. they got a couple good young players with Henrique and Larsson. Look forward to a high pick in 2015, the year of McDavid

The team that led the NHL in shot differential and simply suffered poor shootout luck and bad goaltending in 12-13 will not miss the playoffs next season.

I hate seeing such glowing reviews of Boucher because it's gonna be so hard to temper expectations. I love seeing his commitment to improving his game, though. Really good sign for a guy trying to make the pros.

Steven Santini (Boston College) — After the performance Santini had at last year’s U18 World Championship, I think he’d be an extremely hard guy to cut. He received the directorate award as the tournament’s best defenseman without registering a single point. He was a minutes-eating, quick, physical shut-down defender who dominated opposing team’s top lines, with opponents scoring only twice total in the tournament with Santini on the ice. After two years at the NTDP, Santini’s defensive game has grown to a near-elite level. The only guy I’ve seen dominate in a defensive role at the U18s like he did was Seth Jones the year prior. Not trying to compare, but that’s how good Santini was at the U18 Worlds. There is pretty much no offense to speak of in Santini’s game, but he has proven what he does defensively is really valuable. He’ll have some tough competition, but if Santini plays up to his ability, he’s going to be a really strong candidate to make the club. New Jersey Devils (2013, 2nd Rd., 42nd overall)

U.S. u20 hockey games today in Lake Placid. Santini played in the first game against Sweden and reports were that he was one of the players that stood out. Matteau played in the second game against Finland and reports were that he looked below average (even though he played on the second line).

The whole second line was reportedly below-average. Matteau played LW with Dominic Toninato (Leafs fifth round pick) and Adam Erne.

Matteau takes a hard hit according to CP:

Corey Pronman ‏@coreypronman 29s
Hit him high after a pass. Not behind. RT @jcamps30: @coreypronman What type of his was it?. From behind, knee, head...clean, but hard?

Corey Pronman ‏@coreypronman 1m
SWE getting a major penalty for the hit on Matteau. Walking on his own to the dressing room.

Corey Pronman ‏@coreypronman 2m
NJ's Stefan Matteau is down and hurt following a hit from Anton Lindholm. Getting off the ice by himself.
