Who will make the playoffs first, Toronto or Edmonton?

Leafs have been out of the playoffs for seven years in a row, Oilers six. The two most futile teams in the league. Who will make the playoffs sooner?

If the Leafs get Luongo, I think they'll make it first.

Otherwise, I'm going with Edmonton.

Edmonton, the Leafs are an unstable joke. The question should be will Edmonton make it before another new Leafs GM.

Toronto because even with the same type of players returning minus Luke Schenn and Colby Armstrong, they were in a Playoff position for most of the 2011-2012 season until February of that year. Edmonton hasn't improved enough in the standings with their top young players playing full time.

Three years of picking first is as stable as it gets.

What is the record for longest playoff drought? That is the one record I think the Leafs have the talent, coaching, (mis)managent, and ownership achieve...

So I vote Edm...

Florida had an 11-12 year playoff drought going before this past season I believe.

That said, I'd put it like this:

Under normal circumstances, Edmonton first, but if Toronto acquires Luongo, then they're first.

In a shortened season as we will have, anything goes. 48 games means 1 good winning streak could ensure a spot in the playoffs, while 1 bad losing streak could mean early elimination.
