It's quite remarkable how different the offensive talents of the Flyers are from last season. Outside of Giroux and Hartnell there isn't anyone that would worry me. Simmonds is a 20/20 really. Who else is there? Briere whose injured.
Still think that they'll sadly make the play-offs but I don't see them troubling anyone.
Still way too early for me to make assumptions. Even in a shortened season. If this was baseball it'd be a completely different story, but it really isn't that difficult to make the playoffs in NHL . Lets say flyers hover around 10-12 for most of the season, then in April they go on a streak...climb into that 7-8th spot and are hot going into playoffs. Far...far too early. But exciting to discuss nonetheless . Not hoping a shortened season happens again, but now that the waiting is over with...I actually love this.
If we had to chose between on of the Flyers or Rangers missing the play-offs. I'd go Flyers every time. They play Rangers next I believe.
I know that the past is a really bad way to predict the future when it comes to one year to the next. But we have owned the Rangers for a while now. Won I think 7 of the last 9 in their arena, 4-2 last year, an 8 point goal differential in our favor. Some teams just match up better against others. Devils against us for year for instance.
How is that a worse matchup than Philly? I saw nothing in that first game (or the game against Philly) to change my opinion.
“The most terrifying fact about the universe is not that it is hostile, but that it is indifferent. If we can come to terms with this indifference and accept the challenges of life within the boundaries of death, our existence as a species can have genuine meaning and fulfillment. However vast the darkness, we must supply our own light.” - Stanley Kubrick
