Yep, every game is so important. You get off to a bad start, and your recovery time is very limited. Since a lot of players have been in action already, we are seeing some great action and pace, compared to your typical start of the season early October games.

Want Dallas to fail so we can rent Jagr...not that that would ever happen anyway, but...he looked damn good tonight. We'll see if he falls off like last year.

Last year he was a PPG player in the first half before injury, and still had the hands. However he looked a bit slow and a bit out of shape, (relatively speaking). Tonight, at least, he looked in good shape and looked fast and shifty. Good stuff.

2 goals for Winnik.

Perry scores. Palmieri scores. 2 goals in 11 seconds.

Schneider blows. pulled.

Jagr will start to tail off in March sometime. But no question he's still got the instincts / ability to make some plays. Dallas' top 2 lines are pretty f-in good in reality. The rest of the lines and bottom two pairings are a little suspect and they're good in G.

OTOH, STL absolutely DESTROYED the Wings tonight. I mean ugly. A mix of "Detroit has fallen really far" and "STL is going to win the West if they stay healthy" (IMO). They have unbelievable depth on that team, at every position. The trade-up to get Tarasenko is looking like 100% genius move at this point. Everything he's done since being drafted is impressive. No nerves out there tonight, pots 2 highlight reel goals.

They don't have any Malkin's on that team (yet), but what they do have is 3 lines that are legitimate scoring lines (they have a Top 9 instead of a Top 6). And their D... rock solid. Shattenkirk is turning into a freak of nature.

And we know the G situation. If we find a way to make it to the Finals and end up playing them, it will be a much harder series than Detroit was IMO. I like our Top 9 too and our D could be pretty solid even with a rook in the Top 4, and our G... but damn. And you know they're going to be well-coached too / responsible out there. I'm looking forward to watching some STL games this year as well as ours; get my money's worth from Center Ice.

Haha. Yes it would be tough to beat St. Louis in the Finals, but at this point I'll take it!

Jagr wants another Art Ross! Now that he's the undisputed star of his team again, I wouldn't bet against him. He looked DAMN good in black again.

Loving the Detroit implosion, the Canucks fail, the Habs fail, the Rangers loss and the Flyers of course. But perhaps the sweetest of all was Carolina laying an egg. Shoulda stayed, Jordan! Oh, and Florida will make the playoffs. Kevin Dineen is one of the best coaches in the NHL, and they now have a second scoring line. People shouldn't sleep on Florida.

Canucks have some defensive issues.

Selanne matches Jagr tonight, 2 goals & 2 assists. Nicely done.

Hope Jagr has a great season. It's insane that so many Pens fans now hate him, the guy was our star for eleven seasons. He went to Philly for a year, get over it. He's still a top 5 all time Pens player, and should be cheered for his services while a Pen, not booed because Shero wasn't giving him a great offer.

Pens fans have plenty of reasons to dislike Mr. Dying Alive.

I loved him as a Pen and respect his game, accomplishments etc. but the guy is a sleazy mofo. He reminds me of a used car salesman. I don't believe one word he says at this point.

Most of us that hate him hated him long before he pulled that crap in 2011.

i'd argue that the unrelenting vulgarity of his career has turned endearing. stripped bare of the notions of honor, unencumbered by the burdensome demands of nostalgia, JJ has evolved beyond our mortal expectations. While the narrative arc of his career has always been very detached, there is a nearly whimsical, playful tone to all. You wouldn't be hard pressed to find an inherent inherent desperation and sadness that is completely at odds with the way he wants to sound. In short, his mingling of metaphysics, materialism, and the aesthetic have dismantled our notions of the mythic. Jaromír Jágr is truly a legend.

Never want to see Jagr back in Pittsburgh either.

Old players dominated games yesterday.

Imagine if Ray was able to swing that trade to move up to get him. Yikes.

I wouldn't complain, we got Beau Bennett and we could have something good there.

I'm not complaining.

Tarasenko is a vastly better player than Beau Bennett though.
