Cant see Philly doing this, thats a lot of money for Snider to swallow.

If they do, I doubt its any of Giroux, Briere, Schenn, Simmonds, Hartnell or Couturier.

Nice, Philly is probably the best option out there.

Voracek does make sense, I agree. Playmaking RW is exactly what we need.

Makes the best sense, bryz is a disaster, luongo would be a perfect fit.

I agree with Giroux and the young centers Schenn and Couturier, but I can't see Simmonds or Hartnell as being entirely untouchable. Off the table, for sure, but even without showing these guys off as trade bait, there are still better choices then elsewhere at the moment.

You forgot Vorcek, too, or are you secretly pulling for us

Remember Snider doesn't care about the money as much as people think. He has a **** ton of it. Also Bryz would cost 2/3 of his remaining contract if we bought him out. Still a ton of money but not as much. He wants a Stanley cup more than he worries about the financial side of the game.

Luongo is better than Bryz, and I wouldn't mind him if we got him(depending on the cost)

And no I do not think we give up what everyone thinks.

I think Simmonds should be the main piece. Would look great on Kesler's wing, and I think Philly could stand to lose him for their goalie, then trade Bryz for a winger to replace him.

To VAN: Simmonds
To PHI: Luongo

To CHI: Bryzgalov (Philly retains 1.5mil salary)
To PHI: Stalberg

Final product is Philly getting Lu+Stalberg for Simmonds+Bryz.

I dont know, just spitballing.

How much business sense did it make for Holmgren to lock down his key franchise pieces in Richards and Carter to big lucrative deals only to deal them before their contracts kicked in? Signing those players in the first place required a very willing owner. One that has to cut those big checks, and that's what Snider is known for.

This is legit.

What ... the... ?

Luongo >> Bryzgalov

Luongo << Bryzgalov + what the Flyers would have to give up to get him.

Please, no? Pretty please?

I think Voracek could be available.

IMO, Voracek isn't much, and he makes 4.25mil. The plus wouldn't be much unless there is a small bidding war.

To Van- Voracek
To Phi- Luongo

This move makes both teams better IMO. Voracek is exactly what the Canucks 2nd line needs.

Luongo (plus anything/everything) for Couterier would be the dream deal for the Canucks.

Capgeek has the following buyout calculation:

Ilya Bryzgalov is 32 years old on the buyout date of June 15, 2013, setting the buyout ratio at 2/3 and the total buyout cost at $23,000,000 spread over 14 years.

IMO Lu couldn't get Voracek, but Simmonds is much more do-able.

Simmonds (and Hartnell) are close with everyone on the team, I can't see Philly breaking that up.

And no thanks to Bryz at any cost, unless he's a UFA who signs for cheap.

IIRC the compliance buyouts would be over the term of the normal contract

I just threw up in my mouth.

As long as it doesn't involve Giroux, Couturier, Schenn, Schenn, Voracek, Simmonds, Hartnell, Coburn, Read, Talbot, Grossmann, 1st round picks... then I am fine with it (so basically, the only way I'm fine with it is if we are given Luongo).

Jokes aside, the most I would give up is Read.

So they would've just brought him back for next season? You do know Burke is signed through 2013/14, right?

If management felt he wasn't the guy to make a push, and that's why they wanted him out, then they certainly wouldn't have hired his self-admitted more patient right-hand man to take over the job.
From all accounts Nonis is more open to make a Luongo deal happen, thus all but ensuring a more successful season. Ownerships that want change and improvement take note of things like that whether you want to believe it or not.
