The last pick? Really?

As of today, to answer your questions in order: Yes, yes, and yes.

That's what I thought. Good. I'm glad I wasn't missing something obvious.

hate to be negative, but, Is anyone else concerned that Burns, Braun, Demers are hurt and that they won't be 100% at seasons start. This season will be a sprint, early losses due to patchwork D could be hard to overcome. Not to mention that Nemo needs to get warmed up to find is game.

Braun looks like he's going to be good to go on Sunday and Demers injury isn't going to be long term.

Burns' injury is very concerning but the Sharks defense is pretty deep this season and assuming Demers doesn't miss more than a week or two I think it'll be fine.

I'd be much more concerned about any kind of injury to the Sharks top 6 (or 7) as they are still lacking forward depth.

No I'm more worried about the offense not having any depth what so ever.

Kevin Kurz ‏@KKurzCSN No surprise, but Todd McLellan says it's now a safe assumption that Brent Burns won't be in the lineup on Sunday. #SJSharks

Attended the scrimmage today. Was a lot of fun to watch. They were really going at it today. A decent amount of physical play. Although definitely not very crisp. Going to be a rough first few games with scoring chances probably only coming on big turnovers.

Tennyson and Jumbo scored for the White team, Murray scored for the Teal team. Had a shootout afterwards. Jumbo scored on the shootout. 2 others scored in the shootout I think, but can't remember who.

Impressed Me:
Jumbo
Boyle
Petrecki (looked like he belonged with the NHLers)
Burish (loved that he was trying to mix it up in the scrimmage)
Murray (looked better than last year)

Not Impressed:
Wingels (looked slow and off)
Clowe (looked like Clowe of last year)
Couture (not terrible but expected more as he should be game ready)
Pelech/McLaren (Slooooow. Makes Murray look like Marleau.)

Just Plain Terrible:
Greiss (couldn't handle the puck, big rebounds, one semi-soft goal).

This is why I want to see Stalock. He's a wizard with handling the puck.

I was there as well and apparently I saw things pretty differently. But it was a controlled scrimmage and I didn't want to read too much into anything.

The one place I 100% agree is Burish, guy seems to only have one gear and I'm pretty excited to have him in San Jose.

It's really hard to get a read on where guys are at when there's almost no physical play...

I thought Kearns looked pretty good.
Sheppard looks much better playing center than he does at wing.
Murray and Zus were both moving well.
Galiardi looked a lot more confident both on and off the puck than he did last season.
I don't much like Stuart and Vlasic together but I understand why the pairings are the way they are with no Demers or Burns.
I really like Desjardins and Burish together, they're going to drive the other team nuts.
Irwin looked very comfortable skating with Boyle.
Thornton, Boyle, Marleau, Havlat, Couture, Clowe, Pavelski all looked pretty much like themselves, though Clowe and Havlat were pretty 'rusty'.
Niemi looked pretty sharp and Greiss still needs to "slow" down a bit in net.

But again, these guys aren't going 100% and I would imagine the first week or two of the season are going to be a bit sloppy.

Yeah, I didn't mean to imply there was a lot of physical play. But compared to what I've seen in some of the other camp practices, there was actually some contact today albeit mostly on the boards.

Yeah, physicality and pace have absolutely picked up during the week.

Every team is going to have the same issues when the actual games start, though some have had scrimmages against their ECHL or AHL teams. I'm also guessing there's going to be quite a few more injuries this year.

I'm counting on you pro scouts for Sunday's projected lines. Keep up the good work!

I think the lines are pretty much set minus the 4th line left wing spot, these are the lines they've been using since day 1.

Marleau/Thornton/Pavelski
Clowe/Couture/Havlat
Galiardi/Zus/Wingels
???/Desi/Burish

I would guess that Sheppard and Kearns are fighting for that last spot and it seems Kearns has the inside track as of today (that could change tomorrow of course).

Iriwn/Boyle
Vlasic/Stuart
Murray/Braun

Isn't Irwin more of an offensive defenseman, and Stuart a defensive one? Seems like it should be Stuart with Boyle and Irwin with Vlasic...

Sheppard's not a winger. I know SJ is used to players who can play C and W, but Sheppard is not one of them. He's much more effective at C.

I don't know that I entirely agree with that..he hasn't played much wing in his career so it's not surprising that he looks more comfortable at center but with time (and considering his skating) he could be a pretty effective winger.

He he even skating? really worried he's going to be the Havlat of this year where he's nothing like he should be and always behind. glad we have Stuart.

Don't think there were any reports on him skating, he was doing yoga with Clowe though.
Wasn't his expected recovery supposed to be at the start of the season (October)? Maybe he didn't take his rehab seriously because of the lock-out.

I was thinking that as well. Using the LD/RD familiarity, I expected something like
Vlasic - Boyle
Murray - Braun
Irwin - Stuart

Irwin is a two way d-man, he's been very good defensively for the Worcester Sharks.
