I'm thinking that he is challenging for the number 8 spot with Chorney. He would add size and toughness on nights, when we are playing a more intimidating lineup. Otherwise, he and Langenbrunner will be hanging out together in the press box. Mentor the younger guys and be an occasional fill in.

Chorney is already in camp just for the purpose to have even pairings for drills but he was never a threat to challenge Woywitka for the 7th spot. White is legit competition for Woywitka.

Iíll note that a few extra guys (Cundari, Ford, McRae, etc. are also technically in camp today but thatís only to play in the scrimmages tonight and Thurs night since they needed some extra players to fill out both scrimmage teams. Theyíll all be returned to Peoria for their next game, which is Friday.

I'd give him a million for a year, similar to what Souray got with Dallas. He was never terrible, he just wasn't worth his caphit.

I wouldn't hesitate to go 2-3 million. If you want a lefthanded top 4 guy, then you got it. Have your partner for Pietro and power play point man on other side instead of Oshie.

That is...if he has any inkling of coming back to his previous form. If he is done, then he is done. Just have to see what kind of player he still is... Could be a last hurrah...

Souray is getting 11m/3yrs with Dallas.

No thanks on Redden. He was barely an average NHL defenseman when he last played in it, and that was 2.5 years ago. He hasnt been playing at all this year either, now he is 36. He is just an example of a player that aged horribly, slowed a lot. Id prefer a waiver wire pickup or Woywitka to him.

I plan on going to the scrimmage tonight. Is the parking garage free for training camp, or no?

Souray signed for $1.5m last season and earned his $11m/3year deal.

I would offer Redden $1.5m for the season; low risk, high reward. He'll probably get better financial offers elsewhere, and it might well be from other contenders, but we have got to be an attractive option. He would have a good chance of team success, and a better chance at personal success in our system. Worst case scenario is that we have a new #7 Dman.

Out of the players bought out, I'd go for Gomez if Steen doesn't stick at center.

What about looking at Wade Redden for depth. This guy was a stud, but the cap hurt his value and they hid him in the minors to avoid the hit.

Maybe a better option then White or Woywitka. Not sure if he is a RHD or not. But Rangers would be paying his full salary and have to buy him out. Could be had for a song.

You have a misconception about why they hid him in the minors. He had stopped being a "stud" before he even signed with the Rangers and, after signing with them, he was outright bad. He likely would have been a journeyman depth guy or a desperation signing by a bad team without that anchor of a contract, but he's slow and historically has a bad work ethic. His game went to pieces after his mom died from cancer, too. Redden is basically Cheechoo, except replace like forty-five sports hernias and a good work ethic with lazy and emotionally shattered.

Jesus, brutal.

I'd still take him for a million, but I bet another team will offer him more than that.

It's possible he has matured, recovered from any nagging injuries, and so forth - enough to be a good #6 or 7, I don't know. His stats in the minors aren't bad, but for a guy who was never quick or physically imposing, he's likely to look considerably worse in the NHL. Eyewitness accounts suggest he hasn't been great.

Maybe he'd be worthwhile just as a powerplay specialist. My guess is that he wouldn't look good on the Blues.

Shootout woes continued in the scrimmage. 1-10 with McDonald gettin the only goal. Idk if its necessarily fair to judge off this but still.

Also it's a pretty good crowd here tonight JR said 8,000 which looks about right
