Final season of Spartacus starts in 2 weeks! Can't wait.

After watching a bunch of the preview videos though, I'm not sure about the treatment of the Caesar character. Looks a bit like Thor.

Can't wait! Glad they let them finish the series as opposed to just straight up cancelling.

Me too, though I think they could've stretched it out for two more seasons...but it just wasn't the same after Andy.

Although it wasn't the same I felt McIntyre did a pretty fine job on the last season.

I found him better and better as the season went on.

I thought Liam did a good job as well, but not as convincing as Andy physically. He was visibly a few sizes smaller than Crixus and Gannicus, somewhat odd considering that he was supposed to be the best fighter out of all of them.

They seem to be making up for it this season though, as I've noticed that they gave Spartacus more armor than the others in the trailer.

So apparently the premiere is tonight on Starz, I don't get to see it until Sunday night (jealous!).

I can't remember, did Illythia die or was that left up to speculation?

Read somewhere that it's pretty much confirmed that she's dead.

LIke how they set up Crassus and how he doesn't underestimate the slaves and purposely trained himself in the fighting styles of gladiators.

And damn...that Saxa has a tight little body...freakin Gannicus

Just watched it, and was very impressed. Set up a lot for the rest of the season and I already like Crassus 10x more then I did the guy from last season.

If this opening episode is any indication of what we're in store for this final season, I'm excited.

I can honestly say I'm going to miss this show when it ends. It's set the bar for television violence, hasn't it?

Try not to be spoil last episode but what exactly was that slave doing with the knife when cutting with the guy (forget his name) towards the end?

I was wondering the same thing and wanted to come here to ask it.

My first thought was some type of barbaric medical surgery for some type of STD... but he seemed to be deriving pleasure from it, and the kid who interrupted him said something along the lines of him having picked up strange pleasures on his trips so maybe it's some type of masochist thing.

I found this :

Quote:
Does Caesar have a bloodletting fetish? It's unusual for Spartacus to shy away from the graphic portrayal of sex or violence, but when a slave kneels before Caesar and uses a sharp instrument between his legs, her head obstructs everything from view. We're left baffled and slightly nauseated by imagining what could be happening down there, especially when we see the blood pooling on the ground and hear Caesar's moans of pain. Or is it pleasure? Both? Tiberius isn't the only one to think that Caesar might be a little funny in the head!

Series executive producer Steven DeKnight won't confirm or deny a fetish, but he tells TVGuide.com, "That's this little mystery thing of what the hell is going on there. You don't find out until Episode 4 what that's about. That's another thing I love about Starz. They called me up and said, 'What the hell is this? Is he into the kinky sh--?' That's what we want people to think, and then you find out a little later what that's actually about." Oh, those crazy Romans! Shaking our heads.

First thing I thought of was some sort of wart or blister.

Thanks for the read.

Ive been a HUGE fan of all the Spartacus series. These past 2 shows(vengance and war of the damned) are good, but no way do they even come close to the first 2 shows(blood and sand and gods of the arena) The main reason for me is because the true Spartacus (Andy Whitfield) passed away. That in itself took a TON of magic away from the series. Liam Mcintyre does well i guess as Spartacus now, but Andy was way better. Not much of a Gladiator theme left for the newer series either. Still watching and enjoying it, but not liking it as much as i did the first 2 series or even the 3rd one.

Looking at the cast list, it's interesting to know that the name of one of the pirates (the one hitting on Nasir) is named Castus, who was historically one of Spartacus' generals.

Wonder how he fits into the story, as it seems pretty late in the series to be adding an important character. I was thinking, since Agron has pretty much been one of Spartacus' main guys, and he had a little spat with Castus...perhaps they reconcile, become good friends, and Agron changes his name to Castus in his honor when he dies?

I am glad to see I am not the only one that feels this way. I hate THIS Naevia. She is nothing like the original actress/character from season one. I was honestly PRAYING Gannicus would kill her in this last episode. And Crixus should be ashamed of how whipped he is by that idiot.
