His value will be low until he shows those kind of #'s in the NHL. Right now, i'd say a late round 2nd, or a b level prospect and a pick.

Derek Meech and Jason Williams from the wings.

Until he signs he signs a contract to come back to the NHL his trade value is practically zero.

i dunno. There was so much hype when he arrived in Pittsburgh that
some GMs would take a chance on him.
Surely the Pens wont get a lot in return but he has some value.

PS: Hi Dave, good to see you here, too

That's being pretty cheap. Morozov is still a second line forward on any team.

I don't think the hype from 10 years ago makes any difference. Morozov's value depends on how he's playing that month. Could be a 2nd rounder or a solid player, but it could be a bag of pucks.

Personally, I think he's in a position to have a big year for the Pens whenever the NHL comes back. He finished real strong in the last quarter of last season and showed some leadership for the first time. Plus, he's at his best with Lemieux on the ice. But even if he's not on a line with Lemieux, he'll still be on the powerplay with him and on a line with a much improved Kraft. Or Malkin. The Pens will have 2 strong scoring lines for the first time in a few years whenever the league returns.

I don't agree. After seven years in the NHL, he has one 20 goal season to his credit. And, he doesn't do anything else that would make up for lack of production.

I think he has second line POTENTIAL. But, he have trouble getting into the lineup on any of the better teams in the NHL.

Reports last season that the Canucks were offering RJ Umberger straight up for Morozov; I believe that was rejected by the Pens. However, it was a hot rumor in Pittsburgh papers, and here in Vancouver.

I think Morozov has a lot of untapped offensive potential (still). He is, right now, a decent 2nd line winger but still with upside to be a really, really good offensive player.

any team eh?

how bout buffalo? Satan and Dumont. Sens? Alfy, Hossa, Havlat. Carolina? O'Niell and Williams...wait maybe columbus, no, no, Vyborny and Zherdev. I can keep going. Edmonton? Dvorak and Hemsky.

he sucks worse at left wing than he does at right, but if you'd like me to post the left wingers that would beat him out for a job, let me know.

When Rico Fata gets more ice time than he does, how can you even post that?

Definitely agreed. He's 27 but he's still getting better every year.

Morozov's value on the open market isn't nearly as high as Morozov's value to the Penguins.

He's a supremely talented guy who has said openly many times he loves playing in Pittsburgh and wants to be a part of the team.

The Penguins would have nothing to gain by trading him.

It just kills me that the only people who ever seem to bash him are fans of western conference teams. You'll be hard pressed to find a Penguins fan say nary a bad word about Aleksey.

in recent RSL games Morozov has been RW on the Ak Bars PP unit with Kovalchuk on the left side and is playing with a lot of confidence... perhaps Mario is going to flank him alongside Malkin (with Mario at LW, possibly?)

To Det: Morozov
To Pits: Williams, Meech 3rd in '06

Williams is up and down, if the kid plays with some talent he can throw up i bet you 40 pts, but like i said, with talent... Meech could be a 6th dman.. the 3rd could end up being someone good, who knows... though if im pits i wouldnt want to do that

very true, but after seven years in the league, and at 28 years old, I don't really see that potential blossoming if it hasn't already. How many times have people said "this is his breakout year?"

I'll try to keep it at that.

Well, he's not staying the same or regressing or anything.

I don't expect "breakout years." Maybe you do, but I don't. I just expect Morozov to keep getting better every year, and for the last few, that's what he's done.

i dont. but others do. also, how much he has been progressing is debatable to a point. i mean, 35 games w/o a goal is bad by almost any players standards. i dont rule out he can get better, i just dont particularly expect it.

My point exactly. I also think that the Pens are going to get very good soon, and I think they'll replace him with better players.

I'm pretty sure helmets are still going to be regulation.

If my team played the Devils 82 games a year and every playoff round, I'd give my right eye for Morozov.

Don't know why, but he always plays great against those Devils.

I'd say late 2nd round or 3rd round. There was alot of hype around him, IMO he hasn't come anywhere close to living up to that.

Morozov is probably the most inconsistent player I've ever seen on the team. I think he piled up 80% of his point total in the last two months of the season last year.

I believe he's had two hat tricks and a point per game average against New Jersey.

I won't disagree with servo about Morozov being inconsistant. When cold he is aboslutely worthless...when hot he looks like one of the best players in the league.
