IMO, w/in 2 years Hall will be the Oilers captain.

That should speak to his availability.

I agree with you 100%. If he can get less injured you're going to have a great captain leading your team. Fun guy to watch! Although my favourites are: Eberle and RHN and has been like that for years now .

Ya, seems as though most fans, Oiler fans included, seem to be split on which of the 3 guys they like the most.

IMO, RNH will be the best all around player, Hall will be the leader, and Eberle will be the most consistent and best pure scorer of the three guys.

Yeah I pretty much feel the same. I think RHN will be a 100 point player in his prime, and as you said Eberle will score those 30+ goals while Hall lead the team and gets quite the few points as well.

Doesn't matter. The offer was still depth guys for a stud.

I wouldn't call the Ranger's version of it as a depth package if it had MDZ in it. Although it was a poor package for Hall, that I can agree to.

No, what's wrong is the fact that you have no idea how the economics of the NHL work. Nor do you have any idea of what relative value means.

MDZ getting less than 3 mil doesn't mean he's not worth more, or won't be over the next 2 years. It means he doesn't have the leverage to get more at this point in his career.

And for the oilers to get him, yes, it would take one of the big 5 because the Rangers have no reason or desire to trade MDZ. No one is saying that he is worth RNH, Hall or Eberle. We're saying that everyone else on your team doesn't interest us and the only way we would trade MDZ to edmonton is if you overpay for him. Trading MDZ would open a big hole on our defense. Why in the world would be trade him for anything less than an overpayment?

Do you get it now?

I understand the point you were attempting to make, but c'mon depth guys? Thats a top 6 forward and a D-man that just finished 12th in Norris voting.

Still nowhere near a monster like Hall, that much I realize.

So you admit that he is worth more then $3M but will magically sign for less. Bottom line is if he has a good agent he should get his pay day.

That's hilarious considering Del Zotto would be a #1 in Edmonton and Hagelin would be in the top 6 most likely.

Makes no sense.... Rangers have the best goalie in the world.... Best defense on paper and arguably the best top 6 offense.... They're absolutely the best team on paper, they don't need to trade

They're not worth Hall but nobody in this league has the luxury of calling MDZ and Hagelin "depth" players

We could get better though. For instance trading MDZ for a similar guy that can play on the right side so we don't have to use MDZ on the right side or on the 3rd pairing like we usually do.

Hagelin could be considered a very good depth player... MDZ is a very good top 4 defenseman, by no means a depth... He would be a top pair on a lot of teams too

Why would the Rangers consider trading this guy? Only reason I see is maybe they're having some bad contract negociation.

Well you want a part of our team, a part of our core I would assume. So I'm gonna be nice towards you. Stepan for Toews?

You like him? Give us Subban , we'll give ya MDZ . We do not want to trade MDZ unless it's an upgrade. Or a similar player that can play on the right side.

McDonagh - Girardi
Staal - New Guy

Nice top 4 if you ask me
