Because it gives us something to talk about.

The reason why Hall, Eberle, RNH, YaK and Schultz are not available is because they are all have more value.

It looks like New York can re-sign Del Zotto for around $4 million and still squeeze in under the $70 million cap even under the new CBA (with Redden buried in the minors) .

He's not going anywhere.

The Oilers certainly aren't going to give up on one of the Big 4 or Schultz for a Del Zotto level player.

MDZ at $4 million is still setting them up to fail re-signing McDonagh and Stepan next season though. Even with the Redden bought out, they`d be in deep **** with MDZ on a contract like that.

Del Zotto's not getting anywhere near 4 million. We're dealing with Sather here. He got Staal for less than 4.

Want MDZ? Improve our team.

Bottom 6 players. Bottom pairing dmen. Futures. All crap we won't deal MDZ for.

Anyone insisting the Rangers are in cap trouble are too lazy to do some simple research. Do the math. Then, make peace with facts like, Stralman @1.7M, Rupp @1.5, Asham @1M, and Pyatt @1.5M would be moved if we really needed to open up more cap space.

And MDZ won't see 4M.

If Sather can manage to sign a #1dman like Staal for under 4M, or a #2 like Girardi for less than 3.5M, then it's safe to say MDZ will see around the 2.5-3M. At most.

None of this this would get Hall alone, never mind adding the rest.

They were all UFAs.

Del Zotto's an RFA. World of difference,

If they don't want to put one of the young guns in it, then at the very least they will eat Redden's contract.

MPS + 1st Round pick.... I don't know but it isn't going to be cheap.

It's not like there's any difference between a player that's free to sign with 30 teams and a player that is restricted to negotiating with one team. Nor is there any difference between a UFA and RFA, apparently.

If Subban gets the 5M he's asking for, you can bet De Zotto will get the same. If Sather is smart, he'll sign De Zotto quick before the Habs make another dumb deal.

Eventually you're going to have to pay Stepan and McDonagh. At some point they will have to make a decision on which of the more expensive pieces to move. I think that MDZ is the right one especially if they get somebody to take their Redden problem away.

They will have to eventually make decisions but not this off-season. There is also no Redden problem, he sits on the cap this year and is bought out in the off season.

The Rangers will be able to make it through the next two years without cap problems (they will be tight next year but they'll be under, maybe not enough to make some trades though). Season after that, they'll probably let Gaborik go UFA to have money for Callahan, Lundqvist, etc.

Point is, Rangers are all in for the cup in these next two years. MDZ shouldn't get in the way of that unless his contract demands are absurd.

and u guys have taunt me cuz I made a thread on mike green to edmonton, u said edmonton didnt need another offensive D. I laugh at this rumor now.

a ''great'' offensive D is a must to have in a team and a stay at home dman is so much cheaper and easier to find.

Regardless of his UFA failures, Sather gets his RFAs on cheap contracts

Those contracts I just listed are good contracts. 5 years 20 mil would be a great contract for him. Anything less is a steal. I just doubt he signs for less the 3.5.
