Question about Getzlaf

This has probably been answered, but I was just wondering what the odds are that he re-signs in Anaheim. Usually there is some indication (or "feel") of whether a player is willing to re-sign. I'm a Leafs fan, so let's clear that one up quickly and I'm not speculating on or proposing a transaction of any kind. This is merely a question to Ducks fans as to whether they feel as though he will re-sign.

Will he? How much? Term? Traded? Bought-out? ... last one was a joke

And same with Perry.

VERY likely Getzlaf re-signs with Anaheim.

I'd say the chances Perry re-signs are at or below 50%. That's just my opinion of the situation.

Based on his comments, he should re-sign with Anaheim.

Hopefully him and Perry get 5-6mil contracts for 6 years each.

It needs to happen soon too, so that doesn't cause a distraction.

If you asked me to put odds on the two returning, I'd say 80-20 for Getzlaf, and 50-50 for Perry. Getzlaf just seems very rooted in Anaheim as far as his personal life goes, has been quoted as saying he wants to stay, and would probably take a slight hometown discount in order to do so as long as the Ducks treat him well in the negotiations.

Perry has given the "let's wait and see" answer when asked about his upcoming free agency. He strikes me as the type of guy who would love to remain in Anaheim, but would expect them to match any offer and that could prove troublesome because teams will open their wallets wide for him.

As a Ducks fan I'd obviously love to see both signed long term, but I wouldn't be devastated if they signed Getzlaf and dealt Perry for the right package or young player at some point this season. Perry is a great player but Bobby Ryan can quickly fill his shoes, and the Ducks have young players on the horizon who look like top six players ( Palmieri, Holland, Etem, Rakell maybe even DSP).

I'd say 95-5 Getzlaf, 55-45 Perry.

Hopefully, but I'd expect both to get more money. Six years sounds about right, but I expect Getzlaf to sign soon for about $6.5-7.2MM per (pure speculation not from any source). Teams will offer $7MM+ long term to both guys if they get to UFA.

I think getz will sign and would go about 95 percent on that.
Perry i have no idea on, which means its 50/50.

That being said im sure a contender would offer more then toronto could as a rental for a cup run. Prob better off hoping 1 hits UFA.

If the Ducks are willing to pony up the big bucks they'll hang on to both. Getzlaf might possibly take a hometown discount, but I can't see Perry doing it.

Omg... Gaborik + 1st '14 (if Perry resigns) + Michael St Croix for Perry ?

I heard Getzlaf's holding out until the Ducks agree to cover his Bosley treatments

If Perry basically stated that he will not resign what would you want for him from Rangers?

I'd say gets would sign... But I'd bet his agent tries to get him to test FA. I'm sure many teams including the Leafs would grossly overpay.

The same sort of return that Kovy and Hossa got.

You think so? I would think they could get upwards $8 million easy on the open market. Maybe not Getzlaf if he has another off-year.

There is no way that they're staying if we're offering 5 to 6 million. That would be ridiculous even in the cap circumvention era where the contract could run 13 years.

No way Getzlaf takes 5-6 mil. He should get 8 years 7 mil hopefully. Perry is a wild card.

Getz will sign and soon IMO. It's almost a sure thing IMO (team lacks centers, family roots, loves area, etc...)

I think he signs a 7 year 50 million deal.

Ducks will use that to try and re-sign Perry. Perry is tricky. He's always been a small talk guy off the ice. Even before his last extension. He doesn't reveal much. His comments are somewhat worrisome for Duck fans but that's because we were hoping we'd hear something like Getz has been saying. It could simply be Perry being Perry or maybe he's not convinced of the future here. Who knows.

If Perry is moved, it will be for someone who's willing to send a package centered around a young player. Philly has the pieces to do it.

In the end I believe the following:

95% certain Getz signs a 7 year 50 million deal.

60% certain Perry signs a 8 year 62 million deal. (Murray will use the 8 year advantage to help him get it done)

You would not be interested in Gaborik? Cap reasons and we our top 6 is pretty good already. Too much money invested in Nash, Richards and Perry (if we got him).

Gaborik would also take over Perry's production. But yeah Gaborik's contract situation maybe isn't optimal since you guys will have to resign Getz and Perry (if he stays).

Kreider/Hagelin + 1st '14 + ? For Perry would that work?

Agreed, id like something along that for getz, maybe same years for perry but 8 mil(7.5 if hes feeling generous).

Unfortunately perry would make a ton in the open market. Hes tough to get a feel for on what he wants.

I expect Getzlaf to get around 7.5
Perry will be looking to cash in, around 8 million IMO.

Maybe you can get Getzlaf at a caphit of 6.5 and Perry around 7-7.5 with cap circumvention.

Perry would ask for $7.5-8M IMO.
