Thanks SolidSnake. Miller just got undressed by Marchand and he looked terrible in the process.

Sounds like Crosby pulled a Boyle.

Choosing between home and away feed for the Buff-Bos game is a lose-lose situation.

I think the JT thread they have going on the main board right now mainly covers everything we were saying earlier.

Well, of course he is! Shanahan is rewatching the Schenn hit on Volchenkov to assess if he should have given him 3 games.

I posted this in the main forum but it's good for your eyes here too:

This season more than others, every point is going to be massive. Therefore the schedule the teams play to has to be as balanced and fair as possible. I'm aware that due to availability and timescales involved it isn't going to be perfect across the league, but the stats I've collated on the schedules of the Penguins and Flyers suggests that there's a considerable advantage handed to one of the teams.

The first thing to look at is the opposition played. Both the Penguins and the Flyers play the Rangers 5 times, but the other 5-gamer for the Flyers is against the Devils whilst the Penguins get the Islanders. With no disrespect at all to the much-improved Islanders, they're still probably the weakest team in the division (maybe not right now, but by season's end) and most teams would definitely choose to play an extra game against them rather than the Devils.

The biggest advantage comes when you look at the back-to-back situation. Early season form has shown that the back-end of a B2B period has been difficult for the tired team and I imagine this will only get worse as this condensed season progresses.

To start with, Philadelphia have 10 B2B games, this is the joint-most in the East and 3 more than the Penguins, who have the least. The average distance the Flyers will travel overnight between B2B games is 417.4 miles, the Penguins' total of 277.7 miles is a staggering 139.7 miles less per game. Furthermore, of Philadelphia's 10 B2B games, 9 of them are against teams who did not have to play the night before and only 1 against a back-end B2B team. Of Pittsburgh's B2B schedule, only 2 of them are against fresh opposition and they have 5 games against teams on the back-end of a B2B.

To summarise, Pittsburgh have slightly easier opposition overall, have to play much fewer B2B games, have to travel much less distance between them and play most of their B2B games against teams who are also tired. In short, Pittsburgh have a considerably easier schedule than the Flyers and in a season where 1 point is likely to differentiate between a play-off berth or an early post-season, this alone could be the difference.

That's an excellent analysis. And depressing.
