Depends what Crawford we get.

If we get the 10-11 Crawford, we stand just as good of a chance as anyone else in the league.

I looked it up to make sure I wasn't misremembering. I was wrong when I said they were Cup favorites, but they were always acknowledged as serious contenders.

A quick skim of this thread:

http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh...11+predictions

A few actually did pick them to win the Cup. TSN's Dave Naylor did. Marty Turco is also mentioned.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=377424

Vegas gave them 12/1 odds, good for 6th among all teams. Nick Cotsonika has them listed as his 7th favorite.

I don't think anyone is saying they came out of nowhere, but they weren't any more favorites than the Hawks are this year.

It was difficult to choose LA simply because they were playing the heavily favoured Canucks in the first round. Canucks had their eye on the Cup. Momentum is sometimes hard to factor in but after that big surge to make the show, it definitely was on LA's side. They had it and led by Quick, they ran with it. After eliminating Canucks the bandwagon began to fill.

Unless you were a fan of a team they were facing it was really hard not to like that team in last year's playoffs. At least for me.

Anyone watching TSN tonight? Bob Mackenzie just cited Wings and Hawks as having a real chance to miss the playoffs. Both teams have question marks: Wings with Lidstrom gone and Hawks, you guessed it, goaltending.

I've read quite enough now that the Hawks will finish 4th in the conference...

our team isn't bad, you can't expect excelence and no holes on your roster. This just doesn't happen anymore

surprised to see Simpson starting for the Hogs today. If he looks good, I can imagine he was worth the 2nd we invested in him

Based on one good AHL game, you'd say he was worth the 2nd? Simpson is unimpressive as a prospect so far. He would need to do a lot more than one game to dig himself out.

Starting to like Robin Lehner as an option, however Ottawa would want an assload.

Lehner was a good option 1-2 years ago. That ship has sailed now that he is close.

Better chance of landing Bishop.

He won't be as good as Lehner, but should be a serviceable 1B.

Yep ... and wouldn't be surprised if Bishop played himself to #1 here. Not holding my breath, but come on Stan, swallow your pride and admit that you jumped the gun in signing both of our goalies and get a trade done.

Then Anderson might be available. One of them should be attainable.

he hasn't had that 1 good game yet

It's just a surprise that Simpson now gets starts in the AHL. They really want to see what they have in him.
Simpson is unimpressive, that is true. He hasn't played behind a powerhouse team so far that improve his stats big time. We also haven't seen him play much or haven't seen him play.

A second and a mid level prospect should land us Bishop.
We need someone other than Emery as the backup this year espeically.
We have 12 back to backs and we aren't always going to score 6 goals like last night!
The sooner the better Stan ....

Bishop is the option from Ottawa, they won't be moving Lehner.

i'll say, especially emery.
not saying i hate bowman, but signing emery so soon after the season after a so-so year really made me wonder about his reasoning...

The regular season was still going on when Emery was extended, horrific move at the time.

Crawford might be ok, but Emery has got to go. We are lucky he didn't give that game back to the Yotes yesterday.

No way Ottawa trades Lehner. They might move Anderson or Bishop. I like Anderson for a short term fix. Or Bishop, who will be a good one in a year or two. Crawford would benefit from some real competition, IMO.

Of course, Bishop would probably suck for a while. I could start a Ben Bishop/Solarcaine thread becuase Big Ben would get a sunburn from that red light behind him constantly being on, lol.

Ray Emery Solarcaine Worst Goalie of the Day Award

Ray Emery should get a Solarcaine endorsement for his play last night. He got a sunburn from the red light behind him constantly going off.

Lucky for us, the big, juicy rebounds he left were captured mostly by our d-men who used them as outlet passes.
