2013 World Hockey Championship

Given the NHL season ends on April 27th and the World Hockey Championship begins May 3rd, it leaves 6 days for Hockey Canada/USA Hockey to come up with some semblance of a roster. No late roster additions of players having made early playoff exits this year. You think this makes the job of selecting rosters easier or more challenging? And any suggested rosters based on teams you feel will not make the post season?

And of course our European friends can contribute with prospective rosters based on their players playing in the various European leagues.

It'll be very hard for them to make rosters but I dare say they'll prepare 2/3 with certain players removed depending on what teams fail to make the play-offs. Dare say they've contacted the players that they'd would call up if possible to ask them if they'd be willing to play.

They should still be able to save some roster spots for players eliminated in the first round - so you potentially have 22 teams to draw from. The real issue has always been players not wanting to go, not with players not being available.

I don't think this is going to be a problem. With a short regular season, a lot of players will be fresh and hungry for more hockey in May and this year's WHC is a good chance for some players to show "commitment" to the national team ahead of the 2014 Olympics.
