Of roster players I'd think Demers could be expendable from San Jose at the deadline if their D is good enough to sacrifice it a little for cup run. Maybe Jagr/Morrow+Robidas+7th for Demers+2nd+4rd at the deadline or something..can't think of a better trade right now. And I realize Morrow have more trade value than Jagr but that is only a quick look at that trade scenario. Demers+1st if it's Morrow.
You're joking me, right? Demers+1st for Morrow? No waaaayyy in hell. Demers is my third most untouchable Sharks defenseman. He's not someone the Sharks should move at all unless it's a similarly upsided young forward.

I'm willing to move Boyle, but not to a team in the Pacific.
Stars fans may flip but Benn isn't signed and Johansson could probably replace much of what Benn brings offensively and defensively if not physically. And Green is still a top pairing defenseman.

Because the GMs are not allowed to resign anyone until the new CBA is ratified.
I'd be down for Orlov for Ryder+ (assuming its a small +).
Would be brutal for the caps in a few years but I can see some people open to the idea. Would make letting Semin go for nothing seem really stupid though
How about Morrow for Leopold? Close in age, but Leopold is cheaper. I'm not sure where Morrow is value-wise, but something could also be built around Brennan+Leopold. You get a young and a not-as-young defenseman, and Brennan is a great PP QB. Almost a PPG in AHL this year (13g,20a in 35gp).
I read in the ESPN preview for the Capitals that Orlov has concussion issues. If he were healthy, I'd do a Ryder+ (the + being a 3rd rounder or below) for him, but that deal happens only if we're not in a playoff position at the deadline.
It's actually the 1st time I read it straightly that Orlov's injury is a concussion. Big deal, Malkin had concussions too However, his injury story is exactly why I think this trade may be considered.

It already looks stupid after getting Ribeiro
Idk what's more needed for the Caps: 3rd offensive defenseman who's not fully developed yet, or a veteran scorer. The team is built around AO and Backtrom, and while they surely have a lot of prime years ahead, the Caps have way too much inexperienced players on the roster. We can't wait forever, IMO.
Pretty sure the title says the stars need defense....not to give up their best defensive prospect
To his defense we are diving up a 4 D-Man and a very good offensive D-Man prospect plus a 2nd in a deep draft for a former 1rst round pick. Not that bad of a deal.

Diaz isn't a top 4 defender, and we have more than enough #5/6s. Oleksiak > Beaulieu, and a 2nd doesn't make up that gap.
