Not a smart career move, especially if he moves to Dallas whose coaching staff is as stable as Manti Te'o g/f story.
I don't think he really cares. His reputation is sound, he's had every job you could have, and he's getting up there anyway. I would have loved to keep him but for a guy turning 64 this summer, I can't blame him for wanting to do something different.
Listening to Emery and Trestman, it looks like the have a good conection between them. Trestman really understands what it takes and he is just a winner. Upgraded the OL coaching big time with him. Was clear that we don't need a OC, more a coach to improve the players. Trestman will call the plays
also looks like i got my wish, house was cleaned. first time in a long time I'll be entering a bears season excited. may not go great year 1, but right now I'm trusting emery and we should see a much different team next season.
@vxmcclure23: Jeremy Bates gone, too, source just clarified to me. Apparently every coach on offense and defense has been let go except for Jon Hoke.
Hoke may only still be there as a potential DC candidate (not sure how I feel about that). I REALLY wanted Marinelli to stay, but he didn't want to. Total house cleaning. That's good for the offense, but bad for the defense IMO. LOT of work to do on D now, which is going to be a concern for me this year. We had a Top 5 D that will almost certainly take a few steps back now. Hopefully the offense more than makes up for it, but the idea here was to gain ground, not gain on O but lose on D and have the net result remain the same. We will see...
wouldn't mind a defense that doesn't rely on TO's to perform.
Though a competent offense would help the defense out anyway.
The defense isn't bad. We never got blown out (except against the 49ers) and that's with an offense that failed to put up enough points to win. Our defense was just fine, and top 5 in the league. I don't understand how people can say the defense was bad.
