@JasonLaCanfora: All signs pointing to Rod Marinelli leaving the Bears. Being recruited to stay but likely to depart. could end up in DAL with Monte Kiffin

Bummer. Guess he's less concerned about money and his career at this point and just wants a fresh start + chance to work with a friend.

Me too, I bet they promote from within. I know the players really like the DB's coach Hoke.

From @seankjensen : Alouettes went from 68 sacks allowed in 625 pass attempts before Trestman, to 22 sacks in 712 attempts in year 1

Wow, quite the improvement. That gives me hope that he will be able to improve the line at least a little.

I've been listening to the radio all morning, liking what I am hearing from Trestman, takes a good approach to success.

Is it true that Bruce Arians told Emery that if he would hire him, then he would get Ken Wisenhunt as the offensive coordinator and Russ Grimm as the offensive line coach?

Then apparently Trestman countered, saying that he will get Kromer to be the offensive coordinator and the offensive line coach?

I read John Clayton reported that on ESPN radio or something.

Yeah, I heard it live. As an Arians fan, it hurt to hear that but sometimes two sets of guys could both work. It puts pressue on Trestman and Emery though. They better produce, but I think they will.

Who are the best CFL coaches out there to replace him?

You should take the job since you clearly know it all.

Not a smart career move, especially if he moves to Dallas whose coaching staff is as stable as Manti Te'o g/f story.

I don't think he really cares. His reputation is sound, he's had every job you could have, and he's getting up there anyway. I would have loved to keep him but for a guy turning 64 this summer, I can't blame him for wanting to do something different.

Listening to Emery and Trestman, it looks like the have a good conection between them. Trestman really understands what it takes and he is just a winner. Upgraded the OL coaching big time with him. Was clear that we don't need a OC, more a coach to improve the players. Trestman will call the plays

as for the D, Trestman hasn't ruled out a change to 3-4

@vxmcclure23: Jeremy Bates gone, too, source just clarified to me. Apparently every coach on offense and defense has been let go except for Jon Hoke.
Hoke may only still be there as a potential DC candidate (not sure how I feel about that). I REALLY wanted Marinelli to stay, but he didn't want to. Total house cleaning. That's good for the offense, but bad for the defense IMO. LOT of work to do on D now, which is going to be a concern for me this year. We had a Top 5 D that will almost certainly take a few steps back now. Hopefully the offense more than makes up for it, but the idea here was to gain ground, not gain on O but lose on D and have the net result remain the same. We will see...

wouldn't mind a defense that doesn't rely on TO's to perform.

Though a competent offense would help the defense out anyway.

The defense isn't bad. We never got blown out (except against the 49ers) and that's with an offense that failed to put up enough points to win. Our defense was just fine, and top 5 in the league. I don't understand how people can say the defense was bad.

The defense didn't need TO to perform, the team needed the D to score to win games, which is the product of a bad offense.

The defense is the only reason this team was any good at all, a bad offense and avg special teams. Without a top 5 D this team would have been 8-8 or worse.
