What if team "x" never relocated or folded

Here is an idea for a thread, a poster asks for a hypothetical history if a team never left the league. The next poster makes up a history for that team, and then asks about a different team, and this goes on.

I'll start:

What would happen if the original Ottawa Senators never relocated to St. Louis, and never folded?

If the Jets never relocated or folded... they would have eventually.

I think I did this wrong.

-Syd Howe is never a Detroit Red Wing, and Frank Finnigan is never a Maple Leaf.

-The 1992 expansion would have featured Tampa Bay and a different city, such as perhaps Nashville or Kansas City.

-With two successful franchises nearby in Ontario, as well as the Rangers, Red Wings, and the brand new Flyers, it's likely that Buffalo would not have been awarded a franchise. Instead we might perhaps be looking at a Dallas or Houston club much sooner.

What would happen if the North Stars had been allowed to move to the Bay Area in 1990?

Montreal Canadiens would have never traded Patrick Roy to Quebec Nordiques. So Nordiques would probably lack a goalie to help them towards the Cup.

How about if the Cleveland Barons had not merged with Minnesota? It is a shame that a number of things got in the way of it being a potentially good franchise. Would there be a Blue Jackets team?, etc.

They would have traded for another goalie but maybe they would have lost the cup anyway. In '96 there werent many goalies available but I guess they might have traded for Ranford or tried to get one of the backup goalies from the Caps (Kolzig or Dafoe).

Red Wings win the Cup in 1996 with no Roy on the Avs to get in the way, do they still win in 1997 and 1998 to become a legit dynasty?

The lack of an NHL team in Ohio is a big reason Columbus got a team; no way they get a team if Cleveland still has one.

There is even the odd chance of Detroit aquireing Roy. So yes, they might have become the dynasty and actually might have won in 99 too.

The Nordiques were a damn good team before they moved, so they still might've one won. The harder part I think is keeping that all-star roster together in QC; how long until financial restrictions would've caused things to flare up? Maybe Sakic ends up on the Rangers in 1997 and Gretzky and Messier win another Cup?

What if the Winnipeg Jets hadn't left in 1996? Were would the Atlanta Thrashers had re-located to in 2011?

If we speculate that the Jets have stayed pulled a Oiler/Sens and Nordiques the same my guess is that either Atlanta would never had existed or it would have moved Hamilton/Kansas/Houston/Seattle.

However if Jets stays then Atlanta most like would never had existed but Phoenix would be the expansion team.

If no team had folded ever then we wouldnt have the Avs and Atlanta would still have the Flames. Calgary would have been an expansion team and we would most likely never see the Preds. Blue Jackets would never exist as they would still be the barons.

Would Flames survive being an expansion team in the 80's?

Would be intresting to do a sort of moch league out of this.
