Adebayor hits the post and should have probably won a penalty a minute late...Togo will rue these missed chances if Tunisia score

GROUP D
1. Ivory Coast 3 2 1 0 7:3 7
2. Togo 3 1 1 1 4:3 4

3. Tunisia 3 1 1 1 2:4 4
4. Algeria 3 0 1 2 2:5 1

Togo advance on goal difference and its the first time in their history that they have qualified for the quarterfinals, quite surprising since they have qualified for the World Cup.

QUARTERFINALS
South Africa vs. Mali
Ivory Coast vs. Nigeria
Ghana vs. Cape Verde
Burkina Faso vs. Togo

Ghana's route to the final is "easier" than Ivory Coast who face Nigeria already in the quarters, no excuses for Ghana this year. Historic opportunity for one of Burkina Faso/Togo to make the semifinals.

Zero North African sides made the QF, West Africa has dominated this tournament so far

Ghana win 2:0

Heldon almost scored a freekick in the last few minutes when it was 1:1

then Ghana counter from the corner and score on the empty goal

Second tournament in a row where Mali knocks out the host nation in a penalty shootout. South Africa’s last two penalty kicks were awful, Mali were very cool on their kicks, only one was close to being saved

Igesund blew that shootout. Might as well have forfeited the match if he was dumb enough to let Furman get anywhere near the spot.

Once again CIV don't show up in a big game, for me a deserved victory for Nigeria. Maybe CIV were unfortunate to draw a good team in the quarters but it doesn't help their image of being chokers.

Nigeria played their best match of the tournament today

boring match not helped by the fact this pitch is horrible, like playing on the beach and unfortunately it will host a semifinal match

Burkina Faso advance to the semis after a 1:0 victory over Togo in extra time. The winning and only goal was scored by Pitroipa off a corner kick in the 105th minute. It was a tight game without too many chances, Burkina Faso probably were slightly the better team, Togo rely too much on Adebayor who to his credit almost on his own scored twice

And BF did it without Alain Traore, who is out of the tournament through injury.
