He's only a project bc of the top four... otherwise he'd be getting top six minutes. I think hes better than any of our forward prospects at the moment and probably more skilled than anyone we'd put on our second line right now too.

They don't need to trade him. He can co-exist with CS and is well liked by his teammates. He has reported to camp ready to play. There is nothing to stop Vancouver from keeping him in the fold and going with both.

Did he even play in the NHL last year? I thought they demoted him.

I have a strong feeling that Hemsky would be the centrepiece in a deal with the Oilers.

Hemsky + MPS/1st, imo. If it were to happen.

I think the best fit for Luongo is Chicago. In an ideal world for Canucks, Chicago overpays slightly due to being in the same conference and being rivals, and the Nucks can get a better package than they are expecting.

I am getting the feeling Lui is not being traded at all . Its depressing because I just cant stand all the threads any longer. It ended up going around in circles long ago.

Luos reply to Bob McKenzies tweet was priceless. I'd post it, but I'm pretty sure you need to be on an iPhone or it will show up blank.

I don't understand the post. Because the cap drops he suddenly has zero value? How does a top 5/10 goalie with a respectable cap hit have zero trade value? No team will carry a goalie with a 5M cap hit after this year? What?

OTHER teams will, Canucks won't. You don't think other teams realize when they catch a GM with his pants down? Teams aren't likely going to get into a bidding war for a player they know the current team can NOT keep

You assume the Canucks only option to get under the cap is to trade Luongo. I don't agree with your assumption at all.

It reminds me of the Carter threads when he was with Philly, and how relived everyone was when he was traded so the threads would stop. Then they started right back up again a few months later

from what some of my oilers buddy told me, hes one of those top six minutes or sent down to play with other skilled players kind of prospects. On teh big team hes unfortunately behind Hall and Hemsky... and I guess Yakupov now too.

Hemsky with the Sedins would be absolutely dynamite offensively.

So you're suggesting the Canucks keep Luongo for multiple years??!?

All I am suggesting is that the Canucks hold on to Luongo until they get good value for him. If that means keeping him through this season then fine. The other poster suggested that his trade value was zero at the end of this year and I don't see that at all.

If they keep him and he goes out and wins the Vezina and the Stanley Cup.....can we not agree that he might have some positive value?

Or just until we feel letting him go would make us a better team, whether to save cap space or because of the players received from a trade offer. Until either happens, of course we keep him. So there's no use playing the "we have to trade him" card until we actually have to trade him.
