Lockout tentatively over!!

A tentative agreement has been reached between NHL and NHLPA - source

Can't link all the tweets, on my phone.. Lebrun, Bob Mck, etc are tweeting it.

This was from Kyper.. " Told possible reason #CBA deal. Bettman under intense pressure from major sponsors. Sponsors nervous investing again in "devalued product" "

Done deal. Its now official. Tentative agreements between the NHL and the NHLPA.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie
Best news: CBA, if ratified and no hiccups in documentation, is 10 yrs with opt out after 8. 8 coincides nicely with my retirement date.

new deal has $200 million in revenue sharing.... anyone know how much it was before and what the preds cut had been? Im thinking thr pred should be in line for at least 10-12 million per year...

(should cover Webers exorbitant signing bonuses, at least)

oh, I will think it will have a major impact. cramming more games in, when the casual fan has a hard time coming on weeknights anyway....
and the people who just have made other plans, are now going to college basketball or going on vacations, etc and go....eh....next season.

and there are the sth who cancelled, got their $ back, and will just go.....eh, next season, this just isn't worth it.

I'm not as invested in hockey anymore...........

I am freaking pumped. I've pretty much avoided this site and all hockey sites all non season so far but I'm back for the ride now. Ready to spend some of my preds bucks too! From all accounts, this new CBA is very favorable to small market teams like ours. Great news!

Our first game might be the previously scheduled Blackhawks game on Saturday, the 19th.

I'm as happy as anyone, but maybe because I followed negotiations fairly closely, I can't bring myself to be all positive right now. If it wasn't for this selfish, stupid sons of b******, we could have had a full season. There was no reason to lose almost half the games. None.

Thrilled it's back, and I'll be back supporting the Preds for sure, but I'm not all roses and rainbows today. Not forgiving Fehr, Jacobs, Campoli, and the other idiots responsible for this just because they pulled themselves out of a hole they created.

That said....Go Preds!

Have to ask, when do the buyouts start? I would be curious about signing Vinny LeC and a boughtout defenseman.

Vinny: 64GP, 22G, 27A.

From what I've heard, buyouts can start after this year. Not sure if that includes the offseason.

@Top6Spaling - I had the same reaction. At first, I wasn't even happy. Just bitter. Starting to come around now thinking about games, but still not impressed with both sides.

Cap exempt buyouts won't be until next summer. Not sure if there will be a buyout period in the next week but I suspect there won't be, or if there is not many teams would use it because it would still count against the cap
