This would be fine if it was a Canadian Hockey League without teams in the US. So the Americans will be staying, the Euros are there so the league can have more skilled players and not get watered down.
I do not have a problem with them reducing the amount of imports though, especially in goal.
But remember the CHL is a business not a Hockey Canada development league.
I'm looking here in Portland and wondering if we're reaching some sort of crossroads.
While the rhetoric has cooled down out here (barely), I'm not totally sure Bill Gallacher doesn't have a seriously different vision than a substantial chunk of the WHL. I'm left to wonder if there could be a parsing of American teams in the midst of a small market v large market struggle. Or is it simply a Portland issue? Is that a philosophy that could spread east?
