Matched, easily. The only reason there is a "holdout" is because the Stars prefer a bridge contract. When they realise they won't get it, Benn will be signed to a 6+ year deal.

This ,plus add every other team in the NHL as being interested . I would love my Oilers to get him , but it would take one of the big 5 , More if it Yakupov as he is not proven in the NHL

I am an Oiler fan . The Stars get bent over on this . Yakupov , while i expected him to be a star to date he has proven nothing . Benn solves our #2 center problem , makes our top 6 hard to play against . While i think Yakupov will out produces Benn in the near future , Benn is a physical center . Center has more value then a winger every day of the week , Plkus Benn is a proven NHLer

With the addition of the salary cap trading that is apparently rumored to be included in the CBA http://espn.go.com/blog/nhl/post/_/i...re-cba-details

Flames give:
bouwmeester but keep 3 mill of salary Dallas pays $3.68 each year for two years
Backlund / stajan to help with the loss of a center
Tj Brodie an up and coming speedy puck moving def

Yes this makes a hole on the flames blue line but Benn is one of those players that are not available every day. I also believe that at the end of the day Benn resigns with the stars 6 years $6 mill

I'd trade Gaborik for Benn in a heartbeat, but that's just me. And I might be biased.

I would love to have Benn on the Leafs, but what would your team give up for him?
I'm scratching my head.

Snow's got a glut of forwards and is scrambling in the wake of the Vis mess, to shore up his defense.

I could buy a rumor, that Snow's calling around for defensemen, but don't buy this one, that Snow's gopna use trade chips for a 2nd line center. Especially, since Strome, B. Nelson and Sundstrom all are having really good season, have strong chances of sticking. Cizikas has had some injuries, but looks healthy enough for camp.

Tavares
Nielsen
Strome
B. Nelson
Cizikas
Sundstrom

Really?

Which of Snow's moves screams desperation?

Was it his trade of...?

Or was it when he flipped his top youngster...?

I'm sorry, which Snow trade or move are we discussing?

I know he'll probably be resigned by the stars but, just for fun, Krejci, Marchand, Knight and Bartkowski. Also, the stars have to worry about the CAP.

Imo, Benn would be put on Tavares' wing. That'd be a physical, deadly duo.

Tavares most productive month of last season was Jan. He scored 22 pts, when Okposo was put on his wing, providing a physical presence, aggressive with his puck pursuit. I'm not really worried about Tavares wing. Isles have some big, physical youngsters in Nelson/Nino if they want Okposo kept on the 2nd line.

I am concerned about the Isles blueline. I like Martinek, but hope he's not playing top 4 mins for the isles.

I do not get this logic. How many times does it happen where a team can't sign their player, so they get a better player in return for him? Never.

I'm not saying he has low value. As an Oilers fan I would also offer Yakupov straight up, which is very fair for Dallas if they can't re-sign Benn.

I know what your saying but Neilsen, Cizikas and Sundstrom are not true 2 center line centers.
While Strome and Nelson project to be top 6 players they are not there yet. Jamie Benn and Tavares would give us a very good 1 - 2 punch down the middle . Strome plays with Ritchie so i assume he would have to be part of any deal Snow throws out there. I think Snow would be right to try ad get him in if Benn becomes available ( big if though) .

He's technically not part of the team, that's why he's not on the ice.

Benn wasn't expected to be on the ice, without a contract.

I'd be surprised if Subban was on the ice with the Habs, without a contract.

Because of health risk, and because it allows the Benn camp to put pressure on the negotiations, Benn will not join practices until he is signed. While that will drive Stars fans crazy — especially if he is not ready for the start of the 48-game season Jan. 19 — the Stars seem to be ready to wait, if that’s necessary.

I'd be very surprised if Benn becomes available and if Snow uses his budget space/trade chips on him, when defense is a much bigger worry.

He is one of my non Flames favourite players. I cringe when I see him against the Flames. Big body but amazing hands and sense.

I was asking STARS fans, not a Blackhawks fan.

Also, read the post, I said "Something around..." meaning that it could be tweaked.

I noticed many people included Jamie Benn as a LW in their line ups. I think his potential will be maximized if he is in fact playing centre. He started breaking out the last couple years when he was moved to centre.

Is it just me or is Jamie Benn being grossly overvalued in this thread.

Someone said Tyler Myers ++

Really? ++? No. Benn is good, but not that good.
