I think if they put Bennett with Crosby that would mean putting Kunitz back with Geno - Neal (as Dupuis and Malkin have never really clicked on the ice) which would be tough on Crosby when Bennett would go through the standard rookie struggles.

Dunno about you guys, but this makes me very happy and eager to get things going.

"It was a lucky season," he said with a smile. "I had a big injury and came back and played well. We had a great line, but we didn't win the Stanley Cup. I want to win the Stanley Cup again. It's my target right now."

And Malkin returns to North America in full game shape. And more importantly, in full health.

"I'm ready," he said. "I'm in good shape. I'm ready to play Philadelphia. The first game we've got to start hard with lots of hits. I have no injuries, nothing is sore. I'm ready to play."

If anybody else wins the job, who cares.
This would be my reaction also. To me, at least, Bennett-Crosby-Dupuis and Kunitz-Malkin-Neal look/sound better than Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis and Bennett-Malkin-Neal.

But I am no coach.

I understand that, but I thought they needed a crash and banger who can win puck battles for Malkin´s line. Bennet doesn´t exactly fit that role.

Yup. If Bennett plays there, it will mean more power forward duty for Neal, and less pure sniper duty. Not a big deal, really. Just a small adjustment.

I just think Sid would really thrive playing with someone with youthful exuberance AND skill/vision. We all know Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis works, but probably never as well as Kunitz-Malkin-Neal worked.

I think BB will be there with sid eventually. I think that's shero's plan for him.

I'm guessing with a short camp they are just basically practicing right now, not experimenting.

I would love to see BB be the third wheel on the Malkin, Neal line. What a third wheel that would be. There would be little to no pressure on him to perform as all of that is going to go on the other 2. Not to mention he will have a ton of open ice to do what he does best because of this.

But I would also love to see him play with Sid. I know the Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis line has been great over the years.. but man do I want to see someone that has actual talent play alongside Crosby.

If it's about grit and skill on each line, why not try:

Kunitz and BB with Sid and Neal and Tangradi with Malkin?

In Perfect world:

Kunitz - Crosby - Bennett
Tangradi - Malkin - Neal
Dupuis - Sutter - Kennedy
Glass - Vitale/Jeffrey - Cooke

Because they're not waiving Adams or Jeffrey.

I looked at Glass's stats and didn't realize how much he actually hit. If I'm not mistaken was in the top 5-10 of hits from a forward?

That's what he brings. Hits. Quick north/south solid defensive player. Exactly what we need.

I've been watching a decent amount of NHL Network this week...EJ Hradek is so incredibly annoying that he almost makes me angry listening to him.

seems like Bennett won some kind of relay shootout today.

I'll be real curious to see if Gomez or Redden end up anywhere. Gomez could probably be a 3rd line center in this league still. He'll always be one of my favorite skaters ever.

I dunno, ideally you want some size and/or defensive ability in your 3rd line center. Gomez really doesn't bring much of anything at this point.

What happened to this guy? Dude was a pretty good passer not so long ago. His game seems to have completely fallen off a cliff. He's still young enough that a couple more 10~ goal, 30~ assist seasons shouldn't be out of reach, yet that seems to be too much to expect from him now.
