Nick Bjugstad to MTL

Saw this kid play this year and he wowed me. He has all the tools to become everything that the Habs need in their top 6.

What would it take from MTL to get a deal done ?

I honestly don't see anything of same value on the Canadians that would make the Panthers move Bjugstad.

Should have drafted him.

Unfortunately, my crush isn't coming any time soon.

Typically as I've always seen it you discredit their prospect when trying to buy not make them look better.

Regardless, Montreal and Florida are at similar stages, trying to rebuild but not quite there yet, I don't think theres a deal to be made as there going to want to give up vets for youth, and MTL will want to do the same

You get the idea.

I've watched him play about a dozen games this year, and he could step into the NHL right now and have an impact. Big kid, good skater, great hands, and more importantly...he just always looks like he's in control of the game. One of those kids that knows where the other 9 guys are on the ice at all times, knows when to change gears, knows when to pass or shoot, etc. If the Panthers are in the playoff chase this year, then it wouldn't surprise me a bit to see him slide into their top 9 to finish the year out.

One knock for me when I watch him...I'm not sure about his toughness yet. I think we'll see more of a mean streak when he goes to the next level, but his temperament is very controlled at the NCAA level. But his game has grown leaps and bounds in three years.

We should have, he is awesome. There is no real flaw in his game. Seeing him on a line with Patches would be fantastic.

He wouldn't be on a line with Patches because Patches would be coming back to Florida.

ROFL, im sorry im not overrating the **** out of bjustad, but are you seriously suggesting trading a 23 year old 30 goal scorer for an unproven prospect?

Don't ask the question if you don't want the truth. HOW many times are Montreal fans going to ask if Huberdeau or Bjugstad are going to Montreal for little to no value. If you have something better than state it, don't laugh and waste a post in the thread.

this exactly. If you want to trade for one of the top prospects in hockey at a position of need for the team that owns his rights, you better be prepared to have your best players put into the proposed deal.

Just because we are a franchise you look down upon because of our location/sub-par history, doesn't mean you get to offer scraps for our players and us be happy about it

By watching him play I can tell you we would be trading for an NHL level player. Would a combination of a roster player + pick + good prospect work ?

For a man his size he isn't very tough/physical.

There's no reason for Florida to trade him unless it's for a better prospect, or a roster player they really need.

You can't trade quantity for quality all the time.

Patches or Galchenyuk would really be the only thing I see on the Canadians that the Panthers would bite at. Other than that, Montreal isn't a good trading partner for the Panthers at all.

Tallon isn't going to trade a guy he drafted and is high on for an ok player+pick+good prospect. Everybody in management from Tallon to the coaches to Brian Skrudland their player development guy basically drool whenever they talk about Bjugstad. He's not going anywhere for less than an overpayment. Who knows he may suck at the NHL level but the Panthers are high enough on him that he isn't going anywhere, unless a team gets stupid. Since his arrival Tallon has said the Panthers biggest need is down the middle. Especially size down the middle. So why would he trade his 6'4" big center prospect unless its for an over payment?

Panthers have an abundance of quality prospects. Trading one of our best ones for more quantity makes absolutely no sense no matter how much Montreal fans want him. Like has already been posted, unless you are talking about Patches or Galychenyuk, we can close this thread because its just a waste of everyone's time.

So a 3rd overall pick that was almost scoring at a 2ppg pace in the OHL or a 23 year old 30 goal scorer for Bjugstad? No and no.

Just for curiosity, do you mean Galchenyuk/Patches for Bjugstad+ or 1 for 1?
